Hello, I have a HD ready TV and when I got the game and started the game it showed 720p I was like "Hmm sounds reasonable" Then I asked my friend what his game was running in he said 1080p then I went to the Screen settings and I un-checked the 720p box and made it go 1080p, should I stick with 720p or 1080p?
Force Dragon Age to 1080p?

Yes but I have games that automaticly goes 1080p and my crossbar menu thingy or whatever its called is also 1080p

The game engine native resolution is 720p, if you have it running any higher, then either the PS3 or your TV is scaling the image. For clearest text, I recommend keeping it at the game's native, 720p.

I force this game and others that run natively at 720p to run at 1080p on my PS3 all the time. Haven't noticed any drawbacks to it at all. I can see the difference on my 42" TV so I prefer the upscaled image.
I suggest trying both and picking whichever one suits you best.

The problem is upscaling on PS3 requires CPU overhead. This theoretically could impact peformance.
Not all games support 1080p upscaling either, resulting in many games being outputted in SD 480/520 if 720p is unticked in the displays menu.

In display settings from the XMB choose HDMI. Then choose Custom. Then untick 720p & optionally 1080i. Ok the setting. Games that support upscaling will now upscale to 1080p, those that do not will output in standard definition albeit progressive.

Does Dragon Age on the PS3 really run at 1080P? According to the box it does so why does Dragon Age not automatically go to 1080P (the highest resolution)? Why should I have to untick 720P to get it to work? If the native resolution is 720P and the PS3 is upscaling then surely the makers of Dragon Age are lying when they put 1080P on the box. Will we have dvd movie manufacturers claiming HD just because players can upscale?
