Talk about dumbing something down, it leaves you with nothing to think about and kinda ruins the tone of the story and it takes out any choice you have on how the game ends which is something that haters seem to complain about. Now this ending leaves you with an even more lack of choice.  I prefer the metaphysical thought provoking dark but kinda happy endings.

I'm with you on this one. I actually like the mystery and wonder that sci-fi brings. I like to have things to think about create wonderful discussions. Instead of the devs spoon feeding me all the answers on a silver platter. Any ending other than bittersweet (eg. MEHEM) would be a betrayal of everything the Mass Effect franchise is about.

The devs said this themselves. No truly happy endings. This isn't Barney, or a Disney movie after all. It's a war story where the main theme was about sacrifice and heroism. Mass Effect 3 tells this theme very realistically, given the circumstances (hyper advanced machine race coming to harvest all the primitive organic races).

scifi is not about mystery and wonders. it is about how technology shapes and changes our lives. mass effect 3 is not science fiction anymore. it is a philosophical asspull, that plays in space.

it is a simole, corny and clishé-ridden piece of fiction, that has left science out of the story.

and mehem is still not happy .. just happier ... dieter nuhr says it perfectly: "wenn man keine ahnung hat ... "

I love how a reunion scene apparently makes it a Disney ending. Last I checked that would happen in 50% of all high ems destroy playthroughs anyways.

This mod just puts it on screen.

Plus I don't see any smiling faces in that reunion.

Just survivors comforting each other.

Only problem I had with MEHEM, is that it isn't for xbox. For what little the creator had at his disposal he did a good job. Sure it's not perfect, but at least he did something to give some people what they wanted.

THIS IS DISNEY !!! SHAME ON YOU FOR LIKING THIS !!!

really .. this disney-shuff is getting old.

miramax was a part of the disney-family .. some of their greatest hits were "pulp fiction" and "life is beautiful". "the black hole" and "tron" are disney movies as well.

But you think the EC endings made sense? Lolwut.

MEHEM isn't great in terms of plot, it just gives you "Shepard lives and he bangs [insert LI.]" It does its job. "Happy ending mod."

And it still is better than the real endings. I seriously prefer the original endings without EC, because they provoke more thought (look at IT) than the EC ones.

I appreciate the work that the creator put in, but I really have to question the people who like it. Mass Effect has never been about pure victory. I would've been disappointed if Shepard was able to just walk away from the ending.

I will forever maintain that it would've been far worse if BW showed you an epilogue. As it stands, it's plausible that Shepard survives high-EMS Destroy, without being unrealistic. It's a delicate balance, and MEHEM ruins it.

What's there to question? Like we said, this isn't really a "happy" ending. Billions are still dead, worlds are still ravaged, and some societies were completely wiped off the face of the galaxy. The mod simply shows the reapers being destroyed and Shepard mourning the loss of his mentor and being reunited with his or her crew. It basically is a high EMS destroy ending but with more clarification on shepard's survival. I'd say that fits pretty well within the story.

This still isn't a "pure victory"  THe only change from High EMS Destroy is

Shepard is explicitly shown to live
and
(optional) the geth aren't wiped out.  That's only shown thrugh ending slides you don't have to install.

Everyone who died before, either by teh Reapers or by Shepard's own hands, are still dead.  Thane is still dead.  Legion is still dead.  Anderson is still dead (it's his memorial service, after all) dozens of worlds are still trashed.  Billions are still dead.  the relay network is sdtill damaged, and there are no Reapers to help repair them.

Sure Shepard gets to "walk away" from the ending.  But what I like about that final scene:  Shepard surrounded by friends, Hackett talking about the challenges of rebuilding after the world and the confidence that while it is an ending, it's not the ending.  This isn't a "happily ever after" ending.  It's a "life goes on" ending.  Happy and sad.

and i have to queston the people, who accept the three original, highly questionable choices.

do you know what day it is? its our day of shame in germany. the original endings accept, that diversity is a bad thing.

in synthesis, we bypass the "problem", by reducing diversity to the outer appearence of the people. everybody has the same, basic dna - biological uniformation.

in control, we ignore the "problem", by installing an omnipotent overlord, who will stay vigilant - forever. who ever turns on society, gets cleansed - "deprivation of the right of decision".

in destroy, we "fix" the "problem", by killing one of the factions.

add one godwin to my tab. the original endings are borderline national socialism.

I appreciate the hard work that went into MEHEM's creation, and can respect those that use it, but it's not for me. With that said, I'm watching the mod's progress and am interested to see how it develops.

Well, I'd say... to each his own :D

This is not either the kind of ending I expected.
Or that would make the ME experience satisfying for me.
Mr Fob actually said he personally prefers his original work, i.e. the MEEM.

I made another one for myself.

Believe me it's hard work.
And immensely generous of Mr Fob to share it, make it available for everyone, improving it, answering questions and requests about it.

So the fact that you don't "like it", doesn't make it bad, i.e. "not good".
It's not for you, ok, just please choose your words better.
