I did it on my first try on Glacier, Geth with Krogaurd, Reegar, and either AP ammo, extended barrel and capacity, or Incendiary ammo, extended barrel and shredder. I had just watched a Sy7ar speed run with a similar set up and figured I could do that... just not with his time. Until then I was almost exclusively a Silver player and that was my first real step into Gold (after that I decided to solo every map on Gold before hitting the PUGs as a Gold semi-regular).

Here's my tip: go for the biggest targets you can kill the quickest to deplete the spawn budget, just don't focus so narrowly that you don't see anything else. Keep your distance from the things that will kill you / scare you until you are ready to deal with them because if you kill them early you'll just have to face more in the wave. That means string them out on big maps and keep walls in between if possible. Also, if you string them out and get them chasing you it'll be easier to keep track of where they are.

Try to save rockets for objectives, and always remember you don't have to complete them in the minimum amount of time. If your hack gets overrun you can either run yourself out of rockets, stay there and get killed, or draw them away for a minute and come back to it. Similar deal with the devices objective.

Depends on what you mean by serious attempts, I guess. I did a lot of experimentation that I knew would likely fail, just to figure how to deal with enemies and wave budgets with a few different setups.

I wanted to get away from the Kroguard and the TGI. I did some serious runs with Gethgineer versus Cerb, TSent versus Reapers but wasn't really happy till I started playing the Huntress. Then I knew I had my kit.


Giant/Reapers/Huntress. I think I did it successfully on my 3rd try once I figured out the kiting strategy and how to eat through the spawn budget. It is IMO the easiest way to solo

On my first try actually, i wanted to get that lone wolf challenge out of the way so i used the TGI with Harrier X versus Reapers on Giant. Honestly felt like i was doing a bronze match since i used Armor piercing III and Assault rifle amp III consumables... finished the match in 33 minutes. Second try i got grabbed on wave 8 and my 3rd and last attempt i used the kroguard vs Geth on Glacier and needless to say i will never Ever solo versus Geth ever again.

Personally I started with bronze, long before this challenge system, goal was to become better and enter gold games. Then I did a few silvers and decided I wanted to get 10 waves survived in bronze.

When the challenge for Lone Wolf came about I did a few bronze again trying different kits, then silver then gold, it all went pretty smooth. I believe the games were 30 to 40 min, I honestly don`t remember now.

Just keep at it, I find when helping others and even for myself back months ago I would panic on certain objectives, you know from doing the duo`s you have lots of time, on elimination I didn`t rocket to switch the enemy, I just worked away at it.

Four location objective I make sure the area is clear before I start, as you know sometimes they are next to each other, in that case I draw the enemy across the map, taking my time to lead them.

Just keep at it, you will do it....I know you can!!!

Every gold-solo was a success so far...easy-mode with Krogan Vanguard, Geth Trooper or TGI...you just cant die if u play smart !!

Then moved on to more "elegant" classes to challenge myself

Damn that's a long post. I will keep it short. It took me my 2nd attempt because my battery in my controller died and I was stomped while trying to reconnect it. FB Giant is the best map to attempt this IMO.

I did mine on my first attempt but it was not until November. I had no real desire to do it until the challenges came up and by that time my manifest was well established and that helps a great deal.

This more or less. I did the ReeKroguard/Geth/Glacier route. The way I did it is not take advantage of my super health and insta shield recharge by brawling in the open, instead I lead them into chokepoints and just gunned them down there. That combined with luck on wave 10 4 point hacks in which the Geth strangely clustered around the old hack point while I was already on the other side of the map hacking the next one.

My first successful Gold solo was a while ago, and I got it on the 2nd attempt. I was using the Claymore GI vs Cerberus on Glacier.

Took me like 10 to do it. Still can't pull off GI + no cyclonics paper tissue build gold solo either. Too impatient for right hand advantage all day err day.

My first solo was a gold geth white back before sniper infiltrators were nerfed and I got the valiant on the second try. I saw that I didn't need 3 other people when my score was higher than all 3 of theirs combined. Took 1 try,

2 tries for Gold. classic Krogan Vanguard etc . The first time was with no consumables, as I wanted to test the build. I died on wave 9.

Today I did it with the Huntress. Giant/Reapers. It took too long.
I will give it a shot with other classes too, but not soon. Soloing is stressing for me.
 
2 tries for platinum. Geth Trooper flamer build, Giant against Reapers.
The first time I had used a power amp IV instead of Cyclonic modulator IV, and it showed. I died on wave 5.
Second try, success, 56 minutes full of stress, heart wanting to come out of my chest, hands shaking. Banshee screams and flamer sound.
Kudos to everyone who soloes Platinum often, with whatever class/build. That is not for me.

OP hang in there. You will make it soon as it seems. I cannot give you any good advice, because as you see, I used crutch classes. You will need luck too, especially with objectives.

I think I know how you feel. My first 3 or 4 attempts at gold solos were a failure. In the end, I did both my gold solos with the TGI with Harrier on Fire Base White against Reapers. What is the huge advatage of the TGI is that you get the stim packs, which are kind of like unlimited Ops Survival Packs and that can help to save quite a lot of gels. Overload can help with crowd control. And when doing a solo run, having to run around the ammo boxes doesn't seem to be such an issue, since you are kiting the enemies and running all around the map anyway. Also, the TGI can dodge which the TSent can not and that can be quite deadly in certain situations.

I got into a similar situation in my fist succesful gold solo on wave 10. Got humped by a bunch of brutes/banshees/ravagers. But I lucked out since I still had one last rocket left and blew them all to pieces. Oh boy, I was shaking. I beleive luck can be quite a big factor in the solos as well. If you got that far, you can make it, just don't give up.

Kroguard geth on ghost (dc on wave 8, found that I do not like soloing with the kroguard)
SI claymore vs reapers on ghost (unexpected banshee teleport from lower area to upper bunkers)
SI claymore vs reapers on reactor (sync kill stupidity again)

tried again the next week
TGI vs reapers on dagger (wasted a lot of things on wave 3 so I didn't wanna waste any more time)

the next two tries went great got my lone wolf after that.


I still wanna make that claymore SI solo, maybe later for the weekend OP.

I did it for ****s and giggles on a TGI one day with no equipment. Got past wave 6 with all my consumables intact and just took my time killing mooks and leaving banshees til the end and boom it happened. Took about 60 minutes or so because I was playing really cautiously. So was on the first try.

2nd first was a krogard reegar geth but i set it too unknown o accident and got nailed by a Phantom fairly early, then I learned hau 2 kite. And did back to back solo's for my lone wolf banner

Turns out I actually play better in solos than team games..

I didn't bother to try a bronze solo until after Earth's release, and didn't touch anything higher in solos until Retaliation.

Then I took a Kroguard to gold/Geth and let loose. Took about half an hour. Beyond that, I don't care much for soloing. Too tedious, not enough fun to me.

Whittle shocking but first try, mostly cause I tried Krogaurd twice...

then I did a Baterian Brawler 3rd time and found him more responsive

I did it against geth all 3 times though


..but MY very first gold runs were pre retaliation and took me 3 tries reapers, 2 tries cerb and first shot geth...this was logn ago with a SI with only energy drain on Cerb/Geth but Proxy mine mix with Reapers...plus I had a black widow 4 back then too to add to the evident awsomeness of how many URs I had back then

also soloed a gold run of Demo days took me 6 attempts
