It's funny but when you're in a public game and everyone else gets dead, completing the rest of the round isn't daunting because you know after the wave, the others will re-spawn. Funny how that feeling changes when you fire up a Gold solo lol
Anyway my tips, these worked for me and i assume would work for everyone...
1) Treat every solo wave exactly the same as you would in an public game, it's easy to get cocky/make silly errors when you haven't got others watching you play.
2) I know it's boring but make sure you have at least a couple Silver solos under your belt, it's better to learn any issues and complications in these shorter matches than a long Gold one.
3) Infiltrator with Tactical Cloak specced for duration, the Turian Ghost is ideal if you ask me but i guess any will do. The cloak makes any of the hack related objectives fairly simple to do and using his heavy melee trick to carry items, makes the Recovery objective a doddle too. Damage from the cloak is also useful for the Assassination. Escort is the hardest task but the Stim Packs will help, you don't need to max them out, just as long as you have some points in them.
4) Bring the Harrier and whatever you want as a back up, you should always be keeping your Harrier topped up but you never know. Take the Acolyte if your class has no shield/barrier stripping ability, again the TGI has Overload, which works a treat. Extended Barrel and Armour Piercing Mod on both.
5) I think Vancouver is the ideal map, naturally designed like a circuit which you can just do laps around. It also has a lot of cover so you shouldn't get caught out in the open too much plus it has the advantage of raised areas, this gives you bonus of height and can block enemy fire from lower areas.
6) Faction: Reapers, i think they're the easiest but watch out for the Banshees!
7) Equipment: Armour Piercing or Incendiary (your call) - I used lvl 3 in both my runs, so lvl 4 can only be better. I used Warfighter package lvl 5, so i had an extra two Stim packs and a small boost to AR damage. AR amp lvl 3. Cyclonic Mod - again i only used lvl 3.
8) Do you know how the wave budget works? I've never read the proper explanation of it but afaik killing the toughest bosses early isn't always the right way to go because they'll just re-spawn. Instead go for mid level bosses until you've burned through the budget, Ravagers were my target, burst the sacs and watch them die in one clip. Then you should be left with the Banshees at the end, strip barriers and aim for the face.
9) Set aside at least an hour+ for your first solo, your second should be shorter, assuming you want the banner. Have a drink and maybe snacks at your side, cus u will get bored, oh and make sure you use the bathroom before playing
It's really not that bad once you know how to go about things, it's just very time consuming and rather boring to be frank. Practice makes perfect but there's not that much to learn. Try not to use your Cobra Missiles unless you absolutely need them, ideally have most of them saved (if not all) for wave 10 and one for wave 11 (for emergency LZ clearing). Likewise with Medi-Gels, if you die in the early waves, sack off the game and start a fresh - you never know how many u might need for wave 10. Keep your head down in wave 11, it's just a waiting game then.
That's about it really, try it out and let me know how you get on
