first successful gold solo took around 35 mins, it was the 6th time I tried with Broguard on geth/giant. before that I had like 3 or 4 half hearted attempts without consumables.

soloing gold is nothing special.

My first solo was krogan soldier without any equipment.
I didn't want to waste any equipment in case I fail, but I did it.
Have been soloing without equipment since then.

You'll get it someday.. It's nothing to really doubt yourself over though. Your ability as a player is not determined by your ability to solo (that's generally true and from experience I can tell you for sure that it applies to you specifically). You just have to keep at it. As long as you learn something new from each failure then that means you are improving. That's what you should take pride in.

Two failures for each success, though I didn't get disheartened because I either thought I knew what I did wrong (rushed, too aggressive) or thought it wasn't my fault (Banshee warps through a wall and immediately syncs me). My best advice for you is to not use the Turian Sentinel since there are such easier classes to solo with.

I'm still trying - after virtually completing 2 Gold solos but some idiots joined the match at wave 10 - After I already completed objective!! Will keep on trying...

Haha that sucks ! You need to launch the game in private ( I'm guessing you already know that) and to keep your origin status invisible so there's virtually no chance of anyone joining you.

I did my first solo gold on first attempt but I had already played a considerable amount of time when I tried it, I'd say at least 250 hours.
I thought it was impossible, then I realised solo bronze could actually be easy, so I did the ten, then I realised solo silver wasn't that hard so I did the five. After that I was ready for gold, took  me a whileto finish everything went fine, even the missions, but you can't get very unlucky on those so...

I was successful both times I tried to solo gold. "easy mode" Kroguard/reegar. Rank 3 incendiary rounds, cyclonic modulator and shotgun rail amp. Took about 40 mins each time. Just be patient... Especially for the 4 nodes nonsense. I chose Geth since there were no sync-kills.

If you believe that soloing Gold is a prerequisite for being a good player, you've been listening to the game's elite players way too much. If you go into a random public Gold games and find them easy regardless of the class or loadout you bring (and based off your first post, I'd assume that's true), then you're a good player even if you can't finish a solo run.

Attempts # 1 and 2 were about a month or so ago. I tried the BSN "easy mode" everyone talks about... first was Kroguard/Reegar Geth/Glacier.

Krogugard with Reegar worked for me. But my two succesful solors where on Firebase White. I provides more room for kiting the enemy. That is particular useful on wave 8 because you don't want to get trapped by a couple of Geth Pyro and a swarm of the damned Geth Bombers.

What build are you using? This is what I used with Armor Piercing Ammo IV. The strategy:

• Turn Barrier on at the beginning of the game and never detonate it.
• Biotic Charge is your life saver. It will restore your shields and can get you out if you are trapped between enemies. Use it as much as possible.
• Your main damage dealer is the Reegar Carbine. Use it immediately after Biotic Charge. Aim for the head (even on a Geth Prime) because it makes a big difference in damage dealt.
• Save consumables for objective waves. Save at least one rocket for wave 10 and one for wave 11.
• Use hit and run tactics. Charging into a group of several Geth Pyros and Hunter will most likely get you killed because you will get stun locked.
• Avoid killing enemies in objective waves (unless they are the target) before the objective is completed. They will only respawn. Instead try to avoid them. If they are swarming your device or your hacking objective go to the other end of the map and stay there until most of them have followed you. Then return to your objective.

I agree, solo bronze will get you ready for silver and silver  will get you ready for gold.
Do not solo silver with a maxed out character, take a level 15 or so, chose your regular weapons and equipement ,but the cheap one like cyclonic shield 1 or 2, rail amp 1 and so on...
When you can solo silver like this still keeping most of your consumables, then you're definitively ready to solo gold with your best equipement.

Got mine on the first serious try I made ( by serious I mean actually using gear/ammo and everything you can imagine). I was waiting to get the Kroguard but well.. I guess the packs don't like me much so I did it with human infiltrator. Wasn't as hard as I expected, not at all.

FWIW, while I used to do some bronze and silver solos in the past, I hadn't done them in months (not since Retaliation came out).

I pretty much jumped straight into gold soloing then went to attempting plat solos.

I did a few consumable-less gold solo half-attempts to figure out a comfortable class then settled on the Salarian Infiltrator. Similar to LightRobot's idea, I completed one Silver Solo run first with a Level 20 but without consumables and I think I used an uncommon weapon (Eviscerator, I believe) as a handicap for the Silver Solo.

After completing my first Silver Solo, I decided that I was ready so gave my Salarian Infiltrator my Talon X with max level consumables. More importantly, I went into my Giant Reaper Gold Solo with a determination to do my utmost and play to the finish no matter how terrible things might turn out. Good news is I managed to push through on my first all-out attempt so now I thinking whether I'll have the nerve for a Plat Sol...

Yeah, I used to do a lot of solo bronze and silver for challenges untill it became too boring.

2, and it should have been 1 but i got a wave 10 hack and my phone rang, i didnt even answer, just looked at it ant got grabbed by a banshee. seriously.
my phone volume is shut off whenever i play now, obv.
