We're beginning to enter convention season again, and I thought it'd be good to get a sense of where the team was going this year. I know in past comments there was a sense that Bioware wanted to expand their outreach and get in touch with fans in as many places as was reasonable - look at Chris and Jessica's epic sojourn to Europe last year.

GDC (March 25-29, San Francisco)
PAX East (March 22-24, Boston)

Bioware's panels from PAX East, including about Dragon Age, are uploaded at the Nerd Appropriate website

E3 (June 11-13, Los Angeles)

[*]Dragon Age: Inquisition had a trailer onstage at E3

[*]Bioware Edmonton and Montreal studio general manager Aaryn Flynn was interviewed by Geoff Keighley from Spike TV at E3.

San Diego Comic Con (July 18-21, San Diego)

Jessica Merizan (Bioware community manager), Mike Gamble (Mass Effect), Ben Gelinas (editor of World of Thedas) and Nick Thornborrow (DA artist) will be appearing at the Dark Horse Comics booth to sign World of Thedas and chat with fans.

PAX Australia (July 19-21, Melbourne)

Bioware will be running a panel on Friday, July 19 (in the Dropbear Theatre!!). Confirmed attendees are Cameron Lee (Producer), Patrick Weekes (Senior Writer), Karin Weekes (Lead Editor), and “Evil” Chris Priestly.

Bioware fans in Brisbane may be able to catch up with Chris in July after PAX, maybe (?) send him a PM, post in this thread or mention @BioEvilChris on Twitter.

________

Apart from the usual suspects - the PAXseses, E3s, Gamescoms and the like, are there any other conventions that people think would be made even more awesome by a Bioware dev or six attending?

Suggested conventions [source post linked]:

Brazil Game Show (October 25-28, São Paulo, 150k attendance expected)

Dragon*con (August 30-September 2, Atlanta)

I loved watching live streams from cons and the like before ME3 came out. Would be cool if they continued doing those for the people who can't make it. Focusing on cons and expos is great I think, I feel they're so close to their fans when I see these situations =)

Gamex in Sweden has a pretty good BioWare track record too, especially considering how remote we are. World premiere of the ME3 multiplayer in 2011, the adventures of Jessica, Chris and Holly in 2012 with all that came with it... =) Here's to hoping we'll get something half as cool for 2013. And if not, I'll still be watching streams from bigger places!

They could come to BGS (Brazil Game Show, in São Paulo), the biggest convention in Latin American 25~28 october.

150k people are expected this year.

They'll be at MomoCon in Georgia March 8th-10th, though I get the impression most of the Bioware people there will be from the Mass Effect team.

Thanks Diego, added the BGS to a suggestions list.

I guess EA's/Bioware's events team would already have a list of candidate conventions in mind, but it can't hurt to suggest some that the studio would be interested in attending.

(Though it looks like they decide early; PAX AU is six months away and Chris already seemed to know they were going.)

As a San Diego native, I missed Bioware at comic con last year! Now that you guys have something to showcase, any chance we'll get another BW Headquarters like back in '11?

I still have my copy of KOTOR signed by Hudson, Gaider and Karpyshyn. ;) it may or may not be one of my most prized possessions....

Hint:

If there is a panel at PAX East, I hope it is Saturday night or Sunday, as I can not travel until Saturday as my kids are in school on Friday.

It would definitely be awesome if they do have a DA3 related panel at PAX again this year, maybe that'll be when they do a proper reveal since it will have been a year after they first let us know that the "hypothetical" DA3 was in production. Plus, they did say that we'd get more info in Spring.

I am sure some more DA3 info is just around the corner. I hope they do profiles and such for the companions this time as well.

Bleh, the only conference I'm attending this year is GOVSEC/TREXPO. Strongly doubt they'd fit in....

To bad, they could set the games up as 'morality testers'. "What? This guy picked mages! Get him outa here!"

If people were to lobby that any attendance at Australia should include me I wouldn't object.

I think you need to see Melbourne and come show off shiny things to Australians. Because reasons.

(I'll be there on the Friday, really awesome that Bioware looks like it's hypothetically maybe attending sorta kinda!)

Please! Please! Please!

Maybe Sydney too? We have nice beaches and stuff, you know, just avoid the blue bottles and jellyfish and sharks and other poisonous critters. I think I would squeal and die (not in that order, even) if BioWare ever attended an event in Sydney, but I suppose Melbourne would have to do. An excuse to go back at least   ^_^

 *sigh*
And I'm stuck here in Austria...
I guess there's no chance for Bioware employees to come to some convention in Vienna while I'm not busy studying?

Gamescom is just next door in Germany, isn't it? It's in August so I imagine they'd probably even want to show off DA3 around that time, too.

Yeah, but there's another problem: we've only got two weeks of vacation, from July 21st till August 4th, and we'll be way too busy working on our final game projects. u.u
