nice thread OP.
seems like you've gotten some good tips.
strange how quiet the big "e-peeners" have been in this thread...
this seems like a perfect time for them to "shine"

Anyway OP. Once you have the basic gameplay mechanics nailed, it's really just about predicting the spawns and then using whatever you have to kill them. Nothing fancy to it. Quick reactions and good aim help.

there is no need to aim when you BC over to  enemy territory and gun the all down with your hurricane

Unfounded bragusations get very annoying.

And not everyone is good at giving advice. Some people have trouble explaining what they do and putting it into words. Plus this thread has only been up for 6 hours.

I still don't understand why people care about score, I don't even check mine until the end of the game :/

I have fun in other way different than worrying for a huge score, i just fool around and shot things when I see them and sometimes if I play as volus I just want to melee all the things.

OP, if you really want to outscore everyone in a game I will give you a great tip, use all your launchers on objective wave, even better if it's wave 10 :wizard:

What's funny, is I do a lot better when I'm not paying attention and just laughing and joking with my friends. I've played silver matches where I was practically on auto pilot because I was more focused on my conversation, and I out scored everyone 100k to like 30k or 40k for everyone else.

Just something that's always happened for me I guess.

Edit: This is in no way an e-peen comment, it's just something I do. And I did say it was only silver.

Got 1 word.. MEDALS! mix it up and try to do everything, i do top the board 95% of the time even if i get sync killed on the sly at the start of 2 rounds but dont really know what it is exactly that i do, i dont nuke spawns all i ever use missiles on is double spawners ei 2 banshees side by side or if **** hits the fan, not thinkin about the score at all works also as your more focused on reading the map

Group dymanamic and map choice means a lot as well. Just now I had two silver games in a row on silver in which i was testing the pirhana with my batsol. First one I came in first by a fairly large margin on FBW as the other classes with me were melee or close combat. I was able to get to the spawn as quick if not quicker and deal damage. Next game it was a wide open big map in a group that had at least one sniper. I didn't score nearly as well. The player quality was about equal.

Sigh. A flamer spammer gets upset when he's outscored.

Why not learn to play without using some cheap gimmick like flamer, and then you might find you could be competitive with these "better" players you speak of.

The one thing I've noticed that matters more than anything else is positioning. The good players I play with are almost never caught getting hammered from the enemy from three sides. They are moving and flowing all over the battlefield, understanding which groups of enemies to run at head on and which to flank from the side (and which to avoid). Just trying to emulate this has helped me contribute much more in games.

OP I think this is related to your original post about why Drell and Infiltrators can crush the scoreboard, but the truth is any kit can do this. It's really all about positioning. Understanding spawn mechanics is just a subset of this. I've seen people dominate without firing a single rocket.

There are many people who're probably better than me, but not many of them are on the PS3, which is the console I own. That, or I simply haven't ran into them yet. The only time i've been outscored is when I met Knockingbr4in.

You shouldn't get too frustrated about this. A lot of the time it has to do with the character the person is playing compared to the character you are playing. For example, any character with grenades who bombs spawn points routinely is going to score more than you. My goal is to avoid getting killed rather than to have the highest score.

Learning the spawns on the maps comes in very handy.

If Buddy Alpha and Bravo are here and Charllie is thar, then the enemy has to spawn "Here." That's what I always do. That and doing all lone objectives as quickly as possible. When I PUB the only one I depend on is me. Don't get me wrong, I revive constantly. Why? Because I want the enemy to focus on said players while I'm mowing everything down.

Knowing spawns and where your teammates are. I learned that just by playing (a lot). At the start of a wave I check where my team is and can usually tell from that where the enemy will spawn and which way it will go. Then it's about either running from spawn to another or blocking some spawns and trying to keep another one going (say you're a sniper and find where the dragoons spawn.. yummy lol). Easy example is the Yard spawn on Hydra, stand on the ramp next to water fall thingy (Sluice gate I think) and they'll just keep coming at you unless somebody blocks it.

Edit: line of site and that stuff comes in as well of course..

the infiltrator, the N7 Valiant, not using cover, reload canceling, only headshots, smart use of missles.. etc.  assists points on the big guys even if you aren't the one finishing the job.
