So, who actually thinks Collectors are fun to go against?

The Bubble last 10-15 seconds regardless... but it can only come on when they're in flight. So.. the trick is to not trigger the bubble and make them stop flying.

The reason you want to do this is because the bubble has no cooldown... the stupid thing can put up the bubble, approach you and land with his bubble up... then as your team backs away (if they do) it will take off again and put up a new bubble. Simply approaching it and running away elimates all of this... but you need everyone on your team to be on the same page for this to work... so forget it in PUGs.

Someone also said they get DR vs weapons when the bubble is up... but I don't know if this has been confirmed. I know one thing... when the bubble is up they are alot easier to shoot with spray n pray type weapons.

While that does make sense, my friends and I have taken to using the exact opposite strategy.  Because the Praetorian can only use bubble once per flight, we make a point of instantly forcing the bubble the second he takes off.  Then we try to draw out the flight stage for as long as possible, blasting it the whole time.  Even if we're not actively working at it, flight usually lasts a good chunk of time longer than bubble.

We'd heard the DR vs weapons idea as well, but kinda figured the free time to blast it made up for a possible--and unconfirmed as far as I know--DPS loss during the bubble phase.

You know when i am not being a noob camping, i actually enjoy them the most out of the enemy factions.

Something about the burning guy running at you and your in a hurry to put him down before he gets to close. Then you have the extraction round when one of them runs right in the middle of everyone and someone thinks it is smart to shoot em...

Praetorians are pretty tough, but feels good when you take em down and your like 'whew' but then as you reload you see another one right behind it.

They can be alright if you're using a weapons platform to just pop heads since they are all big targets. I usually don't care for them in their current state because I like to play power based classes and Collectors are designed to shut down power based classes.

I like playing them, but sometimes I struggle.
So can anyone suggest some kits which work better against them? Especially something to go after Praetorians with? Fighting cheese with cheese...

Killing Praetorians is as simple as this:

Do whatever it takes to make sure their power denial bubble doesn't go up. Approach the Praetorian and make it land... then after they land goto town on them like normal, aim for the crotch... it's their weak spot.

I like alot of kits against them besides the normal DPS kits (Destroyer/GI). I can Novaguard/Slayer pretty effectively against them... the Asari Justicar wrecks them, ditto for the Huntress (make sure to bring Warp Rounds). Reave and Dark Channel both go through the Praetorian denial bubble.. making them invaluable vs Collectors. Fury does good against them, all the Soldiers...

The Engineers struggle against them somewhat... b/c Incinerate doesn't do enough damage against their bosses... and it's on so many of the kits.

I'm usually playing PUGs, so I can be confident that the bubble will be up.
Thanks though, I didn't realise Reave and Dark Channel are safe to use.

Also what causes them to stagger?  Is it just a damage spike, or does it have to be a hit on their belly heads specifically?

Reave and Dark Channel go through ALL bubbles... including Phantom and Banshee bubbles Posted Image

As far as staggering them... damage spike, barriers dropping, breaking open the critical hit area and pulverizing the critical hit area with weapon fire tend to be what makes them stagger from my observation.

Oh, they're fun, as long as I remember to keep an eye on those nasty swarms. My only complaint about the collectors is that those seekers have a ridiculous amount of health.

Is there any weapon that can cause stagger reliably?  (Claymore?)
Making them somersault seems the best way to stop their jump, melee, sync-kill action. thx

Pretty much any heavy assault rifle can do that. With a Revenant (yeah, bad, I know, use Typhoon instead) you can stunlock a Praetorian.

A Javelin shot to the crit area is pretty much an automatic stagger...

Much more fun than Cerberus for sure. Unless you're playing a melee build.

Ah, okay, thanks!  I guess my aim must be off sometimes.

Edit:  Nobody's ever complained about my aim tho.

If I have a sniper, they are really fun because I can pop their heads. Plus they don't cheat!!

I like them at first, but now I find them more annoying than the Geth.

I'd rather not view the Preatorians as females. If I actually knew what you meant.

Which power classes do you feel struggle vs Collectors? I'm not trolling/arguing... I'd like to hear your opinion.

Mainly the Fury and Novaguard. Well, I could play Fury versus them with mainly DC spam but it's really boring, and it's both challenging and frustrating to get in close for AF -> Throw while avoiding the bees. Novaguard is more an extension of how I'm a terrible Novaguard in general.

I like the variety they add, only ever faced them on Gold a dozen times maybe which I've been doing a lot lately as I'm trying to max my UR's. I did sadly get juice bagged by an unexpected Praetorian on wave 6 the other day and apologised to the only other decent player in that match. A lot of random UUG's I search for come up as mainly either Cerberus or Reapers, very rarely Geth, which I prefer over Reapers and only Collectors when I join an actual UUG lobby.

And when I say decent I don't mean terrible players (though they might have been I dunno) but their equipement and consumables certainly wasn't Gold standard.

Really? I always felt those were pretty strong vs Collectors... especially the Novaguard. The only thing that ever gave me problems were Scion sync-kills... I was able to avoid the Praetorian syncs pretty easily.

Fury can hit & run pretty effectively vs them... but yeah... you have to be conscious of where the bees are. When I see them I just sprint right by them... or Charge/Nova them to death with the Novaguard.

It's taken me a week to get used to the difference in playing a Vanguard from Silver to Gold, even with my health maxed a single Ravager shot can almost completely collapse my shields even with a Level IV shield boosty thing (it's a latin term deal with it!). I've probably really pissed off some lobby groups this week them thinking oh look at that high N7 ranking, bet he missile glitched for his N7 rank but have gotten my swing now.

Most Engineers spend the match crying from the fetal position.  Also, the Phoenix kits have a really, really rough time vs Collectors.  They're not the safest, most reliable kits normally, but the Collectors are a barrel of suffering.

While Vanguards can get by, I feel like the caliber of play you need to make a Vanguard work vs Collectors is significantly higher than vs Geth, for example.  So the stereotypical new-to-Gold Kroguards just get torn apart in unspeakable ways.
