In Dragon Age,genders races and class will play a big role,so you have to chose carefully of what you want to be,Female or male the romancing plot will change,Dwarf make better warrior then any other races,Elf make the best mage,Human are well balanced warrior and Rogue, what you will be?
What gender, race and class you chose and why?

My past characters in RPGs have traditionally been Female and Human, though occasionally Elven when the setting calls for it. For DA:O, I'd like to try out the Mage class to see what it offers. On the other hand, I like Elves but I can't always wrap my mind around actually playing them. I'm more attuned to the Tolkienian ideal of Elves being tall and beautiful, and the shorter, small-sized versions common in DnD (and DA:O, it seems) are a little jarring to me. Personal preference though.

Human male warrior, it reminds most of myself and it feels easier for me to roleplay. Eventually i will try other combinations, sex, race and class.

Female Dalish rogue.
Dalish because it has the most freedom for backstory in the origin. The other origins force you into a role that doesn't fit my idea for the character. Plus, I like the idea of a Dalish Elf being so influential in this land of men.
Rogue because it fits the character in my mind. She's a survivor, and that's the character I want to RP. At least, for the first run.

Female city elf rogue. Normally I play a male dwarf warrior, but the dwarfs just didn't seem as interesting as they usually do. This origin just looked the most interesting.

I'll probably play a male character for most of my playthroughs. Not sure yet what origin I'll try with a famale character, city elf might be the most obvious choice.

I decided to play a female city elf rogue. Female because I am female and I prefer to play as one, City Elf because it seems the most tragic, and a rogue because I normally do not play them.
I look forward to playing her, my characters are almost always self-aware. She(my avatar) will not be. She's extremely naive and altruistic (out of ignorance), but when someone hurts her family or friends, she changes her demeanor entirely. That being said, she has little to no regard to her own well-being, and gladly puts herself in danger (again, mostly out of ignorance).

Not really sure what I'll go with, I've mostly just been tinkering with the creator atm trying out all the combinations seeing what looks interesting. I'm normally partial to archers so I'll probably make a rogue pretty quick, as for gender, race and origin I have no idea. Although a Dalish elf would fit rather well for that.
In any event I may end up going with my current avatar, Lysse, a human female mage as I'm very interested to try out all those mage abilities and I really like how Lysse turned out.

City Elf - because it's the most interesting origin for me.
Female - because I want Zevran.
Seriously speaking, I prefer playing female characters.

Dalish Elf: I have always liked elves and normally play them and I ust thought it would be interesting to play a charachter that is led up sepreatl from society
Rouge: Because its like a quicker warrior and because mage wasnt avadible for dalish.
Male: I prefer playing them

Female human mage. I have a pool of characters from various short stories I've written and tabletop that I use whenever a new CRPG comes out. Because of that, my characters run the gamut on age, race, class, and gender. (Speaking of which, I'm going to have a blast with some of those older looking skin complexions on subsequent playthroughs. Doubt the game's plot will acknowledge older characters though.
)
For my first play through though, I usually go with something comfortable and familiar, so I'm defaulting to a human female mage, since my favorite characters are usually human mages that are often female.

My first play through will be a city-elven female rogue. It looks to be a very gritty experience. But I plan to play many combos over the months considering each one will likely effect much of the game play experience.

My first character is going to be a female elven mage.
I'm female and I prefer playing my own gender. Playing a female makes it more easy to relate to the character. (I usually eventually make a playthough also as a male because I want to experience both sides of the story, so to speak.)
Elves have been my favourite race in almost all fantasy RPGs I've played. Their appearance is usually attractive to my eyes and I like the boost to magic they often get. With DA:O I look forward seeing how much discrimination and prejudices my character is going to face being both an elf and a mage.
And finally, the mage part. Magic and mages simply fascinate me. I always play magic-based characters when it's possible. I like the idea of playing a physically fragile character who holds enormous power. She might not look like all that powerful but eventually she will become a force to be reckoned with. I also like casting and spells more than melee fighting or archery.

Male Elf(or human) mage because I love anything about magic. It seems so mysterious:P. Than female city elf because that origin seemed a little sad to me, than dalish elf... I preffer to play all possible orijins(except Human noble... I hate nobles...)... (That game will most likely kill me...)

Female elven mage. Female because I'm most comfortable role-playing women. Elf partly because of their magical abilities and partly because I think it will be interesting to explore the elven experience in Thedas. Mage because I like to play casters and because of mages' instrumental role in the game world.

I had a hard time choosing, but I decided my first character would be a Dwarf Noble Rogue. He's totally full of himself and cocky now (c'mon, favored child of the Dwarven King), but depending on the game's events, he'll get a wake up call and become more mature over the course of events. Personally I think Noble Rogues present more role-playing potential than poor and oppressed Rogues. Those stories have been told before and I want to make my own.

Am I the first dwarf-player in this thread? Ok so:
Dwarfs are just awesome!
I love that grim, heavy weaponed and amored race. The Tradition ob blacksmiths and the great halls fit very well I think, but DA:O brings some new and very interesting ways of a dwarfen society into the fantasy-genre which are also very good.

I'm thinking my first character will probably be a male city elf rogue (possibly going assassin, depending on how things turn out).
I tend to play all kinds of characters. I play whichever one seems to jump out at me as being the most interesting first. I do tend to like playing elves, so it was almost a coin flip between the dalish and the city elf. The city elf seemed to fit better with the concept, though, so I went with it.
I often end up playing mages or warriors, actually, so I decided to be a bit different and play through as a rogue the first time.
