Object Running: Dishonourable Practice?

Probably an ancient topic but...*shrug*

Recently I've seen more and more occurences of object running. Normally when you get an object you have to walk it back to your LZ. This makes you an easy target and means your team should step up and defend you. Slowly but surely making your way back is a great exercise in tension and teamwork. Yet lately I've noticed players appearing to spam the spacebar key (or through some other method) to run across the map with the item jumping on and off their backs. I think this is absolutely outrageous and though probably doesn't break the rules of the game, certainly is against the spirit of it. The privelidge of carrying the object over should be balanced by the hazard it entails.

That and the noise is irritating...

Thoughts?

"a clever use of game mechanics", and I agree with it. If you can pull it off, than go all for it. In some cases tough, it's hard to pull off when you're not hosting, so it is a bit of a risk. A double edged sword, but I really like the "feel" of object running, even when I'm not on host and I'm losing it, I just can't do it normaly anymore.

It's not possible to mash A (or X) repeatedly for the same effect?

Yeah. I do it, but it feels cheap and really goes against the spirit of objective waves. Should be fixed IMO.

The Asari dodge makes this easier to replicate on consoles, I agree though...the noise is abit irritating.

It may be an annoying noise, but it's far more annoying to have stupid teammates who don't cover you whatsoever. The annoying noise only lasts for about 10 seconds, anyway.

Developers I believe are aware of it and as posted above describe it as "a clever use of game mechanics". Personally, I don't care if a speed delivery happens or it doesn't.

Is it dishonorable to increase your team's chance of getting paid?

"Haulin' ass and gettin' paid."

Yes but then they can't steer their character with the right analogue stick.

Devs said tis be ok.
So I'll do it and not give a rats arse.
When the devs say ''no'' I'll stop.

It's possible to run with that objective on both PS3 and Xbox, it's just harder.
I've seen InvaderOne's friends do it on Xbox, not sure if I've seen them do it on PS3.

@OP
It's just clever use of game mechanics.
I would do it if I could do it, I've tried, but it was just a pain :P

I kind of see it like this...

Yay, winning! Sure. But it kind of loses the true taste of victory.

PS3 here, and I do it all the time, not as smoothly as the PC master race though.
When I mess up the rhythm my teammates pick it up immediatly and start walking slowly toward the LZ, refusing to "give it back" to me, despite my efforts on the mic. Maybe they think I'm a cheater?

No, but I don't do it as much anymore because it's annoying on the fingers and lag becomes an issue.

It is, but it's way more difficult. I've never seen friends doing it, let alone PUGs. Personally, I prefer to headbutt my way across the map instead.

Not worth the effort, noise or risk.

Yeah one of my buddies knows how to do it but mostly with an Asari its the easiest. I personally dont know how to do it in all honesty. Even if I did Im not doing it. Kind of feels like a cheat in a way but I dont judge those who do it as long as the devs have not said that its a cheat/glitch I'll stay neutral. On my part...not doing it and dont really feel I need to to get a game completed.

Well let's just say, I normally play under 0.4+ seconds of lag, with regular lag spikes and rubber banding, to Australia/New Zealand.

If I can manage to run a package under those conditions, I don't feel dishonorable at all.

Also Bryan Johnson does it so direct your outrage at him.

Its possible on consoles. Not as easy but is possible and it is not a bannable offense as far as I know.
