At first I hated Caesar myself but what he did in the last episode really made him grow in my eyes.

It's no Three Kingdoms ( what the **** could match a series of 95 epic episodes with just four seasons? ) but it's better then Game of Thrones for me.
With regards to Caesar specifically, what he did in the latest episode: Decimation, well...let's just say that it was sweet.

( think of stuff like how Zhao Yun charged that one army in three kingdoms and how much that pissed you off ).
god how much of that happens?

What I meant is that there would be things in the series that would ****** you off as much as that did, but only a few. I personally count about 2 or 3 points.
The fighting in general kinda on the same level of Three Kingdoms in terms of ridiculousness sometimes better sometimes worse.

My favorite Spartacus was the 2004 one. Oh it was inaccurate as **** in terms of history but I still liked it quite a bit. Especially Spartacus and Crassus.
I'd say that between the 2004 one and this series I like Spartacus from the old one better along with Mira and Crixus..As for Crassus I think I like this new one better.

Historically, I've pretty much almost given up on finding a truly historically accurate production that is also a fantastic viewing experience in my own particular skewed definition of 'good', so I'll take what I can get. I'm still peeved that my favorite woman in all of (western) history only has one really good movie about her (Eleanor of Aquitaine). Hmph.
And I definitely agree about the new Crassus. I'm quite liking how they're writing him. Not really Machiavellian, but cunning and with a marvelous grasp of tactics vs strategy (well, as far as Hollywood can go with them, at any rate. Tamerlane would still roll his eyes, I'm sure).

Did they remove the spoilery parts at the beginning and ending of GOTA?Costin_Razvan wrote...
Start with Gods of the Arena first, it's a prequel season that they did for the series since the actor of Season 1 got cancer ( he later died and got replaced for Season 2 )
@KoP: Costin really is right on that one. Can't really judge people by their covers in this series I think, well except for Crassus. Pure bamf from start to finish.
And in Blood & Sand I'd recommend skipping the first episode. The 2nd episode should start out with a recap of the events of the 1st ep without wasting any time or souring your opinion of the series. (Do feel free to correct me if I'm wrong ppl)

By S2 I assume you mean the prequel season? One currently being aired is Season 3.
...And yeah I very much agree. There was no reason at all for S2 to exist. It felt painfully clear how most of the Romans present were originally ment to die on S1 finale. It was utter terrible bull****. Nothing interesting ever happened. Spartacus the man got turned into incredibly boring Messianic Gotta-do-the-right-thing super blah. S3 looks way better in all ways though; colors beyond black and white present, Roman antagonists are genuinely interesting and charismatic again. Show is going to end up on a high note I'm sure.
Having said that, I would have loved some 10 seasons worth of flashbacks from dying Quintus Batiatus. This tragic never-quite-make-it basterd scheming and (mostly) failing in (mostly) violent and painful ways and then afterwards describing in colorful fashion which gods are currently busy sodomizing him would have made infinitely better series than watching 20 meatball swimsuit model slaves derping about and trying to figure out how to run a city.
This version of Spartacus could well have a Season 10 that should also be a reboot of Lost where dead Batiatus gets teleported to Lost episode The Pilot, kills Jack, turns rest of them in Gladiators and disses Jupiter.

I was expecting Tiberius to kill her, not pull a creeper and rape her.
I thought things were well executed, and really want to see how the rebels get out of Marcus' trap. I also wish that some rebels would actually die, seeing all of the important people survive without a scratch is getting a bit old.

Don't worry though they will all die, it is....inevitable. As for what Tiberius did, well considering the poisonus honeyed words she has been whispering in Crassus's ears she problably deserved getting slapped...but raped? Meh.
