Tali, well...cause I need my main squeeze. And she has some useful skills.
Garrus cause he's my best bud and most reliable squadie.
Wrex and Grunt because they're heavy hitters and just plain cool.
Mordin, well cause he's Mordin.
The all-powerful biotic b*tch Jack cause I like her attitude...plus she can keep those damn bug things off me.
Samara and Zaeed because they offer opposing moral viewpoints that keep me balanced and offer very different skillsets.
Thane cause every squad needs a deadly assassin.
Legion and EDI because they are interesting to talk to and give me perspective on synthetic life.
Liara to share some secrets with.

Like James too cause he reminds me of a few meatheads I knew during my Army days, but since I can only have 12...

I'll answer just for my main Shepard, Regina:

- Garrus (He's mi amor and my liutenant. I am nothing without my Archangel )
- Tali (Engineering prowess and my BFF)
- Mordin (Doctor and a close friend. If Mordin dies on Tuchanka, Chakwas replaces him for the role of battle medic.)
- Kal'Reegar (A Soldier to my Vanguard and just plain ****ing awesome.)
- Samara (A fellow biotic who could keep me as a Renegon instead of slipping into full Renegade.)
- Regina's (fanon) brother Hector. (I know you have to be out there somewhere, hermano...)

I decided to stop at 6 because I'd rather have a handful of close and interactive squad rather than a legion of barely-met drones.

This seems to just be a favorite character list for most, so here goes:

Tali - most touching and well-developed LI in my opinion, kills geth good
Garrus - best bro, fistbumps aplenty
Mordin - the very model of a scientist salarian
EDI - hilarious dialogue, great powers
Kal'Reegar - self-explanatory
Grunt - Steve Blum with a shotgun

This would have been an epic lineup for Mass Effect 3.
Trouble is, since you can only bring 2 in your squad, that's a lot of people sitting on the Normandy getting bored.

I'd probably have to go with Garrus and Wrex. I'd definitely want the best fighters with me.
