DS3 looks like an good action game... but it shouldn't be, changing the game theme's like that it's not fair to the fans. How would people feel if the Fallout series was turned into a mindless shooter with no dialogue options or RP elements? Once again EA crushes our dreams. Damn these guys.

I played the demo and was not impressed.

After the freedom and fluidity of the controls that RE6 has spoiled me with, I find it hard to play ANY third person shooter anymore

Never thought I'd hear those words in the same sentence.

Ya I had to read that twice to make sure I wasn't imagining it :D

Please PM me (so we don't derail the thread) on how RE6 does NOT have great controls. Not once did I feel clunky or constrained during the game, like how other 3rd person shooters have made me feel.

I played the demo and liked it, as a big fan of Dead Space. I've never been one to sit back and let something impress me, and in my mind Visceral did the best they could in implementing the shooter elements, call me an optimist. Plus, it was never much of a true horror game in the first place, I always compared it to a modern-day DOOM. I'm glad all of those different modes unlock, too.

I do feel bad about it, though. We know for a fact they forced the co-op, the barrel-rolling, the machine guns, the cover system, the human firefights, the stupid sounding scavenger bot thing, all for a "broader appeal", a la Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 (It's kind of weird that EA admitted that in the first place, though).

Not to mention their selling goal of 5 MILLION COPIES in order to "jusitfy the IP's exsistence". And the executive producer is grasping at straws to try and calm things down. It's sad, honestly.

TL;DR, I love the game, so far anyway, but hate how it's attached to everything I discourage about the video game industry.

Apparently, the executive producer is already teasing dlc. What an utter and insulting joke. This game embodies almost everything wrong with gaming these days.

Just got DMC5 for PC this weekend and finished it. DMC has nearly every PC video setting and good HD textures. And it runs very smooth on ultra setting (Lol 100 FPS...)

On the other hand this.... They are also defending port now!

Uhm shouldn't the game get released first and you have played through the game from start to end before you jump to conclusions?

I don't know about "proclaiming PC elitist." What he says is a fact, a high-end PC will be able to run games better than a low-end PC or that an old console, same way PS3 is better than PS2 and Xbox 360 is better than Xbox. After all, PS3 games are released in the blu-ray format whereas Xbox 360 games are released in standard format. Why is that? Because PS3 is able to reproduce blu-ray content whereas the Xbox 360 isn't. It simply makes sense, I don't think I've seen any publisher releasing PS3 games in standard format arguing games should be equal in all platforms. The reality is that every platform is different and if you only cater to a particular platform, you risk angering users of the others.

The same thing happened with ME3. It was ported to PC and we're still waiting on an official high-res texture pack that will never be released. Curiously enough though, Bioware did release a high-res texture pack for DA2. Ultimately, as a PC user I don't want the game tailored to the newest and bestest (that was on purpose) rig in the market, but developers could set a PC standard, same as they have a standard with the 360 and the PS3, and build or port the game around that standard.

Honestly as long as the game is fun to play, that is what matters in the end.  Demanding extras like better graphics, or additional things to make one version better than the other is not really important gameplay and enjoyment should be first.

However the one hurdle in PC gaming is the diversity of PC's on the market with hugely dynamic differences in in design, capabilities, manufacturers, etc.  Ya it would be great to make the game for the best possible PC out there but if that comes at the cost of shutting out people who don't have high end PC's that can lower the number of units you can push on the platform.

Yes you can get more people to work on the program so it can be used on lesser powered computers but again that could lead to higher costs and if the Developer/Publisher doesn't want to risk extra money if they feel they may not get enough back to cover the amount put into it then it would be seen as a poor decision.  PC is normally the lowest selling version when it comes to multi-platform games unfortunately and the attitude of some users (feeling priacy is justifide, just wait for the game to be dirt cheap in a digital sale) I can understand why some developers may not want to put the extra effort into a PC port,  note this does not mean I agree with it thinking, but I can understand the thinking.

Like I said, they could simply set a PC standard and build/port games around that standard. It doesn't have to be the best rig possible.

As nice as this would be I honestly can't see it happening, Well there are some companies that try to release PC's that have some form of standardization many most gamers also tend to enjoy customizing there rigs which breaks the concept of standardization.

Uhm and waste $60...when the evidence is clear as day...while EA chuckles and adds my money to their account? Nope.

Apparently, the PC version is going to be gimped in some way to make it resemble the console version. It's a shame, as I was sort of looking forward to this one until I heard about this.

“At our studio, we’ve always made console games,” Papoutsis continued. “The biggest thing is we want to make sure the quality of the experience is consistent across all platforms so we don’t have one userbase saying it’s better on their system.”

The only other game I'm aware of that took this sort of approach was Dark Souls, where the resolution was locked at 720p, and you could only fix it with a mod.

It's funny how he first says, "The PC is a very different platform" and then follows with, "(...) we certainly don't target PC as something that's going to be significantly different."

“As developers, you want to deliver an experience that’s as similar as possible on different platforms.”

Which is why we have micro-transactions so those with money can have a different experience than those without.

“The fact that we’re allowing you to control the game with a mouse and keyboard immediately makes the game feel different."

The first game was brilliant, you were just playing some dude and the player's reactions were essentially Isaac as you both didn't know what the **** was going on and you were both going "OH GOD WHAT DO I DO" when surrounded by dozens of necromorphs. Environments got a bit tedious near the end and the game was predictable but it was a great horror game, I liked forward to more.

Dead Space 2 was a gorgeous game, the environments were great and a lot of heart was put into the game to make it eerie (the school is still one of my favorite environments). Unfortunately, the horror aspect wasn't as strong as the first one because you had your few companions who'd follow you around ruining the tension and the game would break the tension up with "SUPER AWESOME ACTION SEGMENT".

Third game seems to throw aside all the horror, the environments aren't as interesting and you've got your own scooby gang which follows you around always talking to you about everything. You're not going "oh ****", it's just the same-old with other people feeling the horror. It seems more like Isaac is just going "STAND BACK, I GOT DIS".

This is possibly the worst statement I've ever seen by anyone. Very basic porting? Yay!

I don't like how his tone is basically "BE GRATEFUL".

www.gamespot.com/news/dead-space-3-will-feature-permadeath-mode-and-disturbing-dlc-6403134

Some new game modes have been revealed

classic mode:  Removes the crosshairs and eliminates resource management making the game play more like Dead Space 1 & 2 (which should mean no microtransaction store in this mode since that is to buy extra resources)

Hardcore Mode: One life for entire game.  You die, you're done.

A New game + mode which is carried from previous versions

Resource mode: which makes only resources available meaning the only way to get ammo, med packs and such is to craft it.  Interesting concept, I'm sure people will say this mode was designed for the microtransaction store however this isn't a force game mode and I bet people will like the challenge without needing to buy extra resources.
