Agreed especially with Isaac having a voice.KBomb wrote...

I liked DS2 more but what I LOVE about DS1 was its sense of isolation and the pulse rifle's alternate fire.I also played Dead Space Extraction which was a very fun game and a good prequel to Dead Space.
I thought a lot of parts in DS2 had that isolated feel to it. I felt the same whilst playing alone in the demo. I guess it's how you view it.
I like DS2 maybe a teeny bit more, if only because Isaac had a voice.

If I were to buy a Dead Space game would you recommend the first or second one? Or both?
Both, I love the first two.
The second is a bit more "action" packed in certain moments, but the atmosphere is still there and oh man, the second half/near end of the game has so many "spoiler" great moments, I'm sure you'll enjoy both.

I highly recommend both games. This is one thing I can thank EA for. Scifi and horror put together into two kickass game. The Mad Hanar wrote...

The microtransactions are in the cents if that makes anyone feel better and from the game it seems pointless since resources are plentiful unless you choose a different playstyle(I believe Visceral even stated that they are against using microtransactions). Also, DS1 and DS2 had Day1 weapon and armor DLC. Local MP may not be possible due to the technical limitations of consoles. It should be noted that you don't get onto the planet until later in the game. You start out in space with a bunch of derelict ships(classic dead space style). One more thing, the ending has been leaked so be careful if you are looking at Dead Space 3 videos.
So Visceral says they are against microtransations? All I saw was their producer defending them. Microtransactions in the cents? Looks like everything is about $4.99, unless EA reps classify that as dlc. Are you an EA marketer?

I believe you mean the PC port was what the producer defended. The w/a pack bundle is $4.99 since DS1 and DS2 cost the same amount. I am not an EA marketer lol.sympathy4sarenreturns wrote...

I shall try both then! I've always been interested but I've never actually met someone who's played the series before.

Ironically, I hated the demo of the first game, so I never bought it, till like a year or two later. Got it for 20 bucks and LOVED it.

The average score seems to be mediocre, the game has finally made the transition into third person action shooter.
I'll judge for myself first. Anyway, it may yet be a good game, just not in the same vein as its predecessors.

People still take Metacritic seriously? It's hard to jusge that site (User ratings) anymore since many things get review bombed mainly by people who haven't even played the game.
I agree. But the average ‘critic' score is about ten points lower than the previous two games. Slightly worrying.

Even several positive reviews seem to agree its good for newcomers...current fans not so much. Gears of War crowd.
What if you're an "old Dead Space timer" and like Gears of War? Or is it impossible to like both? You seem really intent on hating this game.
