So considering this may be the last SP DLC for ME3, I got to wondering...So I don't have the quote available but I believe it was a Tweet saying "if you guys knew what we had in store, you would keep your game saves" something along those lines. Sooooo I cannot fathom that he meant this towards Omega or Levi, is he talking about ME4 (I ask this because I can't remember). And if this isn't directed towards ME4, then to what?!?
I think this was tweeted about a couple of months after the release during the "BSN rage-fest", I am guessing to try and calm down the masses. As much as I would like a different ending, I am keeping my mind open to different possible meanings his Tweet was referring to...I just can't imagine why he would say this about ME4 since there is no shepard and most people don't care for the endings at present. I am probably wrong for thinking this, but honestly I can't see ME4 being as great as ME1, 2 or the first half of 3.
Could he be referring to this upcoming DLC? Just wondering what the thoughts are on this since the first teaser pics have made it to the forums.

Mike Gamble said that.  He was just firing up the hype train to keep people interested after the ME3 ending flop.  I suggest taking everything they say with a grain of salt until its actually released.  Everything prior is PR hype speak.

**edited to clarify the flop I was referring to.  :o

How do you know he wasn't talking about past DLC?

Why do I ever listen to these tweets anymore?  :pinched:

I don't know, that was just a guess... plus you don't really need a saved game for those DLC's.  If he was talking bout them, then consider me less than impressed tho. I liked Levi, but nothing to get all worked up over tho with the whole saved game business..

This was just a question that I was thinking about and decided to share.....  I like to share....

I for one am hoping that this DLC is what Mike Gamble was talking about.  The free multiplayer content has definitely fit the bill for reasons to play on Mass Effect, and Leviathan deepened the ME story considerably, but I still think that BioWare has something up their sleeves.  The size, scope, and investment they've put into this one seems like it's worth staying psyched for.  I know I am.

Like the no A,B,C or 16(or it was 17?) endings
I just hope that they will put on this DLC 1200 war assets, like the 1200 MP :o

They never said 16 endings.

Perhaps they never said it in an interview, but the "16 different endings" bit is in the "official" strategy guide for the game. There's an entire page that spells each of them out, trying (unsuccesfully) to convince the reader that they actually are somehow different.

No, in the the stratergy guide there are about 16 different ways of achieving the 6 different endings. Like the presence of the collector base, and how it impacts the ems. The 16 different endings thing came from an IGN guide which confused the 16 ways of achieving an endgame state in ME3 with 16 different alternate endings.

I'm not sure you know what a flop actually is  ME3 certainly isn't one

There's no way Mike Gamble's tweet had anything to do with ME4: they had no idea what ME4 was even going to be at that time. How do I pretty much know this? 5 months ago Casey Hudson's asking the fans for their input on what the next Mass Effect game should even be. I think it was desperate damage control, but I'm still hoping against hope it's about this last big DLC.

I think you're being a bit naive with regards to their knowledge of ME4. I am 99.99% sure they knew they would be doing another game in the setting, as EA wouldn't dare let go of such a successful franchise.

So asking us what we think the next game should be about is just another lie? Well yes that makes me feel better.

Edit: And weren't there/aren't there talks of it possibly being a prequel? Unless they've got JJ Abrams onboard to introduce a time travel element, I can't fathom how our ME3 savegames would be worth a damn.

How? It sold well, was reviewed well, and has one a helluva lot of awards both critics and public choice. I can't see anyway it could be considered a flop. Controversial, dissapointing, maybe, but a flop means it failed in a lot of areas which ME3 just didn't fail in.

I never said that was a lie, I merely said it was naive to think that Bioware didn't know of a 4th Mass Effect game being made. Hell, the ending alone made me seriously think we were getting a sequel.

Well of course I agree that they knew there would be a 4th game. My point is it sure seems like they didn't have any idea what it would be about. So Gamble's "If you only knew what we had planned..." tweet kinda falls flat when -they- didn't know what they had planned yet. Especially if it ends up being a prequel.

True, though I kinda think the post asking us for ideas was merely a way of calming people down and making them feel as if they are being listened to and contributing. I kinda believe they knew the rough idea of ME4 by the time ME3 was released, but maybe the post is there to spot what parts people want improved next time round.

It's part of the development process to seek out what fans want, even if they do have an idea, they want to know what their fan base really wants. I used to work at a game development company, before changing careers (I'm a pilot now) and this is a very common practice.

That's absolutely possible. It's all conjecture at this point anyway. My cynical opinion is still that there was no meat to Gamble's promissory tweet.

It sold well is questionable.  The fact that it dropped in price at retail stores to 39.99 within 2 months bolds poorly.  The review sites are paid to review games fairly well.  And it won rewards from the sites who openly bad mouthed the players for not liking the ending to the game.  It's nothing more than the game reviewers "getting the last word in".  Their reasons for liking it are not very well thought out and amount to "hey, why not like this".

The bottom line is doubt we will ever know about the true nature of this game because there is so much controversy around it.  The people who like it will defend this game to the death, and the people who hold contempt for the ending will hold to their resolve.

I was referring to the ending.  I failed to mention that specifically in my post, or edited it, I cant remember.  Sorry to not be as clear as I could have been.

All of this is assumption or outright lies. We know it sold well, at least 3 million. The whole retail price drop thing was very uneven. In some places it plummeted, in others it stayed, there is a serious lack of consistency. And the whole **** about review sites being paid id just a lazy way of saying that there opinions don't count. Most critics who critiscized fans didn't like the ending as much as they disliked the anger it caused, and the game won awards from critics AND fans.

"The whole retail price drop thing was very uneven. In some places it
plummeted, in others it stayed, there is a serious lack of consistency."

Retail in general is uneven but that stature is consitant.  If a product is doing well, you're not going to see relatively cross the board drops.  Also its bad news when a store stops taking trade ins on a game like 2 of my local game stop stores did for ME3.  So you're just reaching for straws with this one.

"And the whole **** about review sites being paid id just a lazy way of saying that there opinions don't count. "

It absolutetly counts, because it happens.  All that advertising comes from someones pocket.

"Most critics who critiscized fans didn't like the ending as much as they
disliked the anger it caused, and the game won awards from critics AND
fans."

Because the sites took the side of the publishers because fans didn't like what they paid for.  Not good buiness to burn your bridges.  But they make more in profit from game companies than from subscriptions.  I canceled my Game Informer subscription when they bad mouthed the players.  Wont make a dent, but its my last word against them.  In short, when you sell something that doesn't deliver, it makes people angry.  That's a result of business.  Game critics are immature and forgot how that works.

3 million in sales is damn good for a AAA game (Not even close to being a flop). Everything that happens after that fact is mute.

http://www.vgchartz....-sales-history/

There are a few games that have doubled that total over the course of months and months, but 3 million copies sold is damn good. Hell, it sold as well as ME1 according to vgchartz
The reason why prices come down on games is so that retailers can push old stock out of the door. No big secret.

I edited my OP to clarify the flop term. In no way was I commenting on how well the game sold, did in reviews, awards etc. I was referring to the ending fiasco. I thought that was a flop. Maybe a poor choice of words, but the ending sucked in my opinion, and did the series a disservice (most of ME3 was a disservice to the series, but whatever).

Regarding the tweet in question, I have noticed PR speak more and more now that twitter is an accepted means of conveying info to the target audience. I refuse to believe anything the developers say until I see the finished product. The tweet in question was successful because we are still talking about it close to a year later. I hope they get their sh*t together and deliver a worthy final DLC. But I will wait and see, and not hold my breath.
