I noticed when I was sporting my 'Lone Wolf' banner that I got a lot of kick votes. I used 'Monster' for a while, but lately, I've been sporting the BotB banner, and I've noticed that people have odd reactions to it. People who've played with me know my skill level and what I'm decent/terribad with, so there's no change there, but in PUGs, it seems like there are 4 standard reactions.

1. Banners don't mean anything.
This is the right one. This is the one that I hope for in general, which makes it strange and confusing that I sport the banner that I do.

2. Banners don't mean anything, AND I HAVE TO PROVE IT! I'M GOING TO PUT ON MY MOST TRYHARD class AND OUTSCORE THIS BASTARD! RAWR!!!
This one annoys the ****** out of me. I see it on threads here a lot; "Guy had BotB banner, did worst on the team!" If a banner means nothing, stop trying to prove that it means a player is bad.

3. This guy's the Best of the Best! **** equipment, this guy can carry the match no problem!
I hate this one more than 2, because if I'm not using a class I can carry with, it might mean a wipe, and if I am, it means a long clear time either way.

4. What the **** is that graphic thing behind your GT?
This one's fun. Usually get messages from newer players asking how I got it. I just point them towards the challenge system, because I'm embarassed over the amount of time it took to get BotB.

Have others noticed anything similar for other banners, or noticed other reactions?

I...honestly hadn't thought about it, but ever since getting my BotB a few days ago I've noticed a bit more aggressive gloryhounding, especially in the first few waves. Now you have me wondering if there's a correlation.

Also, did get my lobby ninjered up to Plat once. Suckers didn't know I haven't even considered trying Plat in ages--and I didn't notice the change, so no heavyweight equipment. Went fine, surprisingly.

Anytime I see you in a lobby I put an X, regardless of what banner you are sporting! Oh and IMJ which banner is your boo?

Don't want to be a dick or anything, but with your manifest, you probably shouldn't be playing Gold just yet. Stick to recruit packs until your common weapons and mods are maxed. Use SPs until your uncommons are maxed, then PSPs for rares+.

I still wouldn't kick you; I generally don't kick on Gold.

When I used my AR banner on a class with a Shotgun or Sniper Rifle I had a few people ask why I'm not using AR's, but that was not long after they came out.

Banners mean barely anything. Even the most nooby players can get them (like me).

I don't play Gold. This happened with me on Silver (no, I'm not kidding).

And I don't even care about maxing commons... it's not like i used the after my first week playing.

I'm very close to getting the BoB banner, but I don't even think I'll use it because of reasons #2-4. I also don't equip Lone Wolf, for the reasons you mentioned. I really don't feel like proving myself every time I enter a lobby (I play mostly pugs)... I just want to have fun with the game. And the OCD in me demands that I complete the challenges

The only votes I have ever seen go up regarding banners was for a player with the lone wolf banner.. complete nonsense...

QFT. I've played with roughly 8 BotB yet, one of them outscored me, one was terrible, the others were average / decent.

Edit: I've been using Monster most of the time, no reactions.

Banners don't mean much except for lone wolf. N7' numbers, weapon load outs and use of consumable mods all mean something to mean when evaluating a lobby.

I have Biotic God and Hero Of The Last Days, nobody's ever said anything. I must admit, I was in a hurry to unlock them, but now I realize that they tell NOTHING about me as a player other than that I was lucky enough to complete a weekend challenge or I used biotics a lot. Going forward, I'll unlock the rest as a personal goal and not try to impress anyone else. In reality, nobody cares if you wear banners if it doesn't result in a full extraction.

#3 is why I stopped using the Lone Wolf banner. While checking load outs, I would see people unequipping consumables and readying up. I'd just leave those lobbies, or ready up and leave the game when it starts. Give them a little of their own medicine.

I wear the Monster now(cus it's awesome) and I haven't had any issues. Don't have BOB yet, but I won't use it because it's friggin hideous.

I just like the pretty graphics.....
Cyber warfare and the N7 banners are my favorites. Other than looks, I don't really attribute great meaning to banners.

Off topic: is the N7 one just promote 60 times? If so I'm not sure if a pretty graphic is worth the effort...

It's not the weapons, it's the mods. The Shotgun Smart Choke is what makes many shotguns useful outside of punching range. High Calibur Barrels boost weapon damage by 25%, more than many racial passives.  Ignoring them is a mistake.

I think this may be reaction #2. Maybe not.
