i've noticed it....it happens with challenge points too.....

example: joined a silver lobby, and the leader changed to gold cause of my challenge points total.....then it was joined by someone with a botb, and the leader then changed it from gold to plat...the person with the botb said something on the mic, then left....i followed cause the leader left it on plat but didnt equip up, so i knew how that was gonna go

There's nothing wrong with celebrating the fact that you've worked hard on a speciality, but no-one should use them as a reason to look down on fellow gamers. This is supposed to be co-op, not one-up.

Yup.

Me no like promoting. Unless I'm sitting on a few million credits.  Guess its time to hoard.

QFT. I've played with roughly 8 BotB yet, one of them outscored me, one was terrible, the others were average / decent.

Edit: I've been using Monster most of the time, no reactions.

I think this may be reaction #2. Maybe not.

Reaction 2 when I say that I agree with "Banners don't mean anything"? No, I was just trying to confirm that they don't have to say anything about skill

Just got N7 yesterday.  And I'm gonna wear it.  Because it was tedious.

Only one I've ever noticed a reaction to is when I sport the Collector General banner. For whatever reason, that seems to impress a lot of PUG folk in Silver and Gold.

Then again, this is on PS3. So, it's probably more of an "awe" factor that I played Collectors enough without freezing to even get the banner. LOL

I've never noticed any odd banner reactions.

Though I have once been in a U/U lobby where each of us had a different enemy mastery banner - that's the sorta thing that gives you some confidence in the team.

This one annoys the ****** out of me. I see it on threads here a lot; "Guy had BotB banner, did worst on the team!" If a banner means nothing, stop trying to prove that it means a player is bad.

3. This guy's the Best of the Best! **** equipment, this guy can carry the match no problem!
I hate this one more than 2, because if I'm not using a class I can carry with, it might mean a wipe, and if I am, it means a long clear time either way.

4. What the **** is that graphic thing behind your GT?
This one's fun. Usually get messages from newer players asking how I got it. I just point them towards the challenge system, because I'm embarassed over the amount of time it took to get BotB.

Have others noticed anything similar for other banners, or noticed other reactions?

I've gotten all four of those.

I've gotten kicked for "obviously hacking" to get the banner I always have on. Sometimes people expect me to carry them or missile glitch. Sometimes people talk crap about how "impossible" it was to achieve, or they just display terrible hostility towards me, probably fueled by envy (which is silly because I agree that banners don't really mean anything). It gets hard for me to ignore, so I always say the same prepared speech to each one of them

"Dude, I just played the Halloween challenge, sucka. GOML"

It rarely works. People are so cynical these days.

I love #2. It means I dont have to work as hard. Hell, ill score dead last, and laugh all the way there

edit: on a side note, a buddy of mine was "heckled" recently for having his lone wolf banner on. Aparently these were young kids.... even throwing in the "mom" jokes. I thought it was hilarious cause he weighs 270something and is an avid "pick things up, and put them down" kind of guy lol

Speaking of banners, I see some strange multi-coloured banners every now and then, even had it myself somehow. Not sure how I got it but think it's some sort of bug. Anyone know what causes this?

I've never got any reaction for any banner I've worn. Be it n00b Hallowed Hero, Corsair (seems to be the most frequent), to Lone Wolf, to Monster or Dog of War.

In fact the only time someone messages me is when I'm carrying a round. Yesterday I got a message saying "BEASTMODE" after carrying some scrubs in a Collector/Jade/Gold match with a level 18 Geth Engineer with a Phaeston no less ha ha...

When I unlock it, I will put the Collector General banner to inspire cofidence on who thinks collectors are too hard.

I dont have any. Working towards AR right now. There is a 6 my reaction to banners is
"Oh sweet this will be a pug where at least one other person knows where all the ammo crates are"

Most are surprised that I played the 200 waves with a bunch of "squishy" characters. Some ask for advice on how to run them.

Don't know it's the banner, but I got kicked twice out of a Bronze lobby today (just got the N7 Banner and don't want people to carry me), while having the Nomad banner (best looking banner Imo).

#2 I actually enjoy it when there is another evenly matched player or someone outscores me. It means I don't have to worry about the other 2 fools and have a fall back man to run to if I need support instead of them running to me if they need support or using me as a shield (had a krogan do that last match, everywhere I was, he was behing me using me as a meat shield)!

#3 Even before the banner, this was my expereince with most gold pugs. Tho I do find entering a silver or gold after promoting with a level 1 character - people seem less likely to kick.

I also notice that on matches where I am 100k+ ahead of the 2nd person and 3 and 4 are barely struggling to even be on the boards... the entire lobby leaves after the game. If I pull the BotB off and do the same thing, people ready right back up for another game.

A friend of mine got BotB before I did and she suffered alot with being kicked and hounded in PUGs, but you know she's tough, me on the other hand prefer to live without the drama, so I always wear the Machinist Banner.

Got BotB but since it looks terrible I'd never put that on. I used to run N7, seems like the prettiest. Outsider is a close second. Now I go bannerless just because .

Banners means mostly nothing aside from some sort of dedication, much like N7 rating above 120 and CPs.

Don't want to be a dick or anything, but with your manifest, you probably shouldn't be playing Gold just yet. Stick to recruit packs until your common weapons and mods are maxed. Use SPs until your uncommons are maxed, then PSPs for rares+.

I still wouldn't kick you; I generally don't kick on Gold.

I don't play Gold. This happened with me on Silver (no, I'm not kidding).

And I don't even care about maxing commons... it's not like i used the after my first week playing.

It's not the weapons, it's the mods. The Shotgun Smart Choke is what makes many shotguns useful outside of punching range. High Calibur Barrels boost weapon damage by 25%, more than many racial passives.  Ignoring them is a mistake.

Valiant I plus the mods he has is Gold-ready. Although he'd probably want to use Rail Amp III, and it would still be somewhat challenging.
