The idea of a fully-plated Champion bristling with weapons and swinging double fisted blades of death while shouting encouragement over the din of an epic battle intrigues me.

However, It seems to me that trying to create a dual-wield warrior is a really difficult task in trying to balance stats.  It's like you either end up being a gimpy rogue or a gimpy warrior (like seemingly every other game with dual wielding warriors!)

Basically, you have to level up DEX alot (up to 36 for DW Mastery).  At the same time you need to level up STR for plate (which I think is also at least around the mid 30's judging by descriptions for blood dragon armor.

Now assuming you start with around 14 in Str/Dex , then that's like 40 points just in two skills.

Now I have to work with around 20 points for trying to keep CON and WILL at respectable levels, and also having enough CUNN to get coercion (magic is obv dump stat)

Man I wish I had a character builder right now.

Anybody else going through this crisis?

Yea i want the same thing but have no idea what to do with it. Just been playing for like 3 hours and kinda don't wanna gimp my toon. Also, I did take lvl 4 of combat mastery but think I might have made a mistake taking the one underneath that instead of takin a skill like Herb or something more useful.

You mean combat tactics? Yeah I thought that one sounded kind of weak... Like I'm planning on mostly playing on my char, who already has 4 combat tactics slots which I barely use anyways.

Do you really want to invest character points on something you can overcome with clever micromanagement?.

Tactics shouldn't even cost points as it's there to overcome the UI and has no true in-game effect for non-mages, but I digress.

I had been going through the dual wield dilemna until I stopped thinking like a rogue.   It was difficult but I'm glad I did.  Here is my strategy.

For a warrior, sword - dagger is your combination throughout.  Stop raising dex at 26.  Scale through base damage and speed.  Swap to mace against armored targets - you don't have enough cunning and therefore armor penetration otherwise.  Instead of using normal attacks like a rogue for backstabs, you use Flurry and 2 Weapon Sweep as often as possible.  Their cooldowns are 15 and 20 seconds respectively and sweep only costs 21 activation.
  • Use sword-dagger from start to finish, like Duncan does
  • Max Dex at 26
  • Dagger in off-hand scales fully on dex which must go to 26 anyway
  • Main hand damage scales fully scales on strength which remains your primary stat
  • I will repeat, max Dex at 26.  Do not try to get dual-weapon mastery as the cost outweighs the benefit
  • Dual striking - I am 99% certain that this ability was designed for warrior.  I was skeptical at first until I stopped thinking like a rogue.
  • Bravery - Base damage and resists
  • Dual wield expert - For the dot, not the crit.  Remember, the chance is on each hit, which is why we are using Dual Striking - both weapons always strike.  We scale on speed and damage not crit.
  • Momentum - We scale on speed and damage.  We need to fuel dual wield expert.
  • Deathblow - This is unique to warrior.  Your primary means of dealing dmg are Flurry and Dual weapon sweep because of their short cooldowns.  Deathblow provides stamina to keep this up, which a rogue does not have.
  • Willpower is more vital to you than to a rogue.  Stamina is life and you will use it far more often than a rogue.  See Deathblow.
  • Avoid Precise Striking - This is a 2 hander ability in my opinion.  Slowing down for a 20 point crit is not worth as much as slowing down for 50 point crit that has more base armor penetration.  Attack bonus is required for 2 hander because if you miss just once, it is a massive loss in damage, this is not true for dual wield.

@Darkrhayne

If that's the case I wonder what the hell is the point of DW Mastery? I mean it seems worthless to Rogues (who don't use big weapons) but have the dex to actually buy it.

Plus I wanted to use two longswords - I swear I never get what I want in a RPG without becoming Sir Gimpsalot ;_;
