So tell us why Awakening has to be an expansion that is purchased through a retail store, where replication/duplication of CDs, packaging, shipping, etc...has to be accounted for to drive the price up,
The cost of production has very little to do with the retail price of anything. Prices are set based on how many people are expected to pay that price. If they can produce the same content with less investment on their end, the difference goes to profit, not reduced prices.
You misunderstand how prices are set in a market.

It is available for download as well.
To clarify, what do you mean by "download"?
Do you mean that is available through digital distribution channels such as Steam, Impulse, D2D, EA.
Or do you mean that is available from bioware.com, can be purchased with "bioware points" and downloaded via the interface used for the DLC content such as Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar and so on.
I would like some clarifacation on this issue too... any chances Fernando that we'll be able to buy PC version of Awakening with our BioWare points through the DAO DLC store after all???

Can you explain why pirated versions of Return to Ostagar have started popping up on the internet? If it's not legally obtainable yet, there must have been a leak at your studio somewhere..? For the record, no, I haven't tried it, and therefore do not know first-hand if it works or not, but tons of screenshots exist as proof.
I can confirm that this "delayed" DLC is all over the internet right now. People have been torrenting RTO from since yesterday. Its almost like rubbing salt into the wound having genuine purchasers grinding there heels waiting for a release date from Bioware while the freeloaders all like now are enjoying the heck out of it like crazy. :-(

We'll update you as soon as we have a new date for it - believe me, we're eager to do so.
I would suggest that you hurry up, seeing as of today, non-legitimate owners of the game, have a chance to enjoy (an incarnation of) RtO while the rest of us wait, in anticipation.

Could you let us know if the increasingly long load time problem many of us are encountering on the PC version is being looked into please Fernando?
Most of these that we are aware of seem to be related to memory leaks - known ones are being looked at. In the meantime, I realize it is a hassle but if you find it is taking too long you can try to save/quit/reload and that should help.
Hi, I hope these memory leak fixes that aim to resolve the lengthy load times won't instead replace them with random blue screens and general program crashes! Make sure to test thoroughly!

I have a question about Awakening. I realize that if your character dies at the end of Origins you can still import your save with all the choices you made recorded and start as the new Orlesian Grey Warden. However, can you still import a save if your warden's alive and kicking but not play your old warden and instead be the new Orlesian Warden while retaining all the choices you made in your Origins campaign? For example, my warden did Morrigan's ritual and went to adventure with Leilana "for a time" and for RP reasons (he wasn't particularly please with being conscripted into the wardens by Duncan) I'm not sure it would make sense for him to come back as commander of the grey wardens (depending on how that plotl ine is handled in Awakening) so can I import that save so I have the choices but still have a new character? Sorry it's such an anal/geeky question but if you could humor me that would be great.

Quick Question, the one thing that has stopped me from pre-ordering Awakening has been the fact that my DA:O copy is on steam. Will Steam make available a expansion through them, or will the expansion from bioware.com also work?
They have said the expansion will be available digitally. I believe that means it should be available over steam, but we'll have to wait and see for absolute confirmation.

I'd assume you'll be able to buy the expansion at the same places you were able to buy the original, so Steam should have it eventually.

i think thats a really good question. Wouldn't influence me much since my warden stook around and rebuilt the wardens, but i can imagine people have made wardens who completed the campaign but don't want anything to do with the wardens anymore, and would like to continue with the orlais warden in that version of fereldenMalikCaligulaBey wrote...
