Nothing makes this game less fun than when the game stops being about team play and becomes a pissing competition for best score. Noobs will race to their deaths abandon their teammates leaving them to die in turn just to get that one extra kill. Time for a NEW score system.

Positive scores: (doing these things will increase your score)
revives
assists
detonates
sheilds restores
debuffs/weakens
protects (biotic sphere)

Negative scores:
solo kills
missles used on non objective waves
running too far from teammates
bleed outs

This would encourage fun and team play.

PS: In order to appease the score **** enthusiasts, any player could enter solo mode provided they are actualy soloing and recieve a score based off the old system.

I cannot even begin to enunciate how terrible an idea this is.

I like it the way it is, where score is pooled for xp and the only people who care about individual values are the people I don't care to play with.

Won't happen anyway, so it doesn't matter.

PS : the negative score idea is bad. There's a difference between teamplay/cooperation and holding hands.

That's the worst idea I've read in 3206 threads.

If you are playing for yourself and not for your team, your thinking is flawed. The XP is shared, if your team goes down you will probably die quicker.

By terrible, I mean "my eyes were in so much pain that they exploded".

There are SO many reasons why all of the "point subtractors" are bad. Most of them involve you having to do them because your teammates are brain damaged and/or just naturally stupid.

The reality is people change the way they play based on these scores regardless of whether its pooled. Score ****s need to be punished while team players need to be rewarded.

If your teammates are bad, simply kick them? that's no excuse for bad team play.

I think you just answered your own suggestion with that

What happens if your entire team bleeds out early in a wave or gets instagibbed? Your score would drastically decrease because you didn't die and had to solo a wave. That makes very little sense.

I do like the idea of debuffs giving more points though. That I can appreciate.

But see thats the problem, too many players are playing for themselves, they don't particularly care about the team or its success, just their score, regardless of whether its pooled at theend. the fact that players are still forced to view individual scores as well promotes bad teamplay.

Has to be one of the absolute worst ideas I've ever heard...
Suggestion: Throw in a Krogan's Ryncol (Spelling?) and try again.

So, the next time I solo platinum and painstakingly kill every single phantom on cerberus platinum using my typhoon (can take upwards of 240 rounds, depending on luck with phantom evasion) I get no points?

Or the next time I end up in a game with a whole bunch of grenade spammers, flamer users, etc, and I would rather rambo so I can actually see / aim / not be disturbed (or have my kills stolen if Im a vorcha engineer in need of bloodlust stacks) I should be penalised?

Bad idea. Very bad idea.

see but the probelm is that the current system doesn't properly distinguish good from bad players, it only tallis individual score leading players to believe that some team players are bad (when they are not) and some score ****s are good (when they are not).

Since when are missiles used on non-objective waves considered non-teamplay?

When I nuke a spawn on Waves 7, 8, or 9, it's not because I want to score-w***e, it's because I am trying to make the game a bit quicker and smoother for my teammates. Only ever done with friends or in a PUG that seems to know what the heck they are doing.

I also need to know what "solo kills" are, so you are suggesting I should almost kill and enemy and then run away so my teammate can get guned in the back because they thought I was covering them?

Also I meant you could kick people if you dont like their playstyle.. or leave that game

Quick does not mean smooth. In fact if the game is going smoothly there no need for it to end quickly because players are actualy enjoying the game.

If your teammates are next to you they are tagging evey kill you do. if you are killing them before they can do that, you need to bump up the difficulty.

You encourage teamplay not by subtracting points, but by adding them. Positive versus negative enforcement. Instead of "solo kills", give crossfire bonuses. Instead of a penalty for using a missile on a non-objective wave, don't included a penalty or bonus at all. Instead of gaining points for debuffing an enemy, just give them an assist (because this already happens), etc.
