Nothing makes this game less fun than when the game stops being about team play and becomes a pissing competition for best score. Noobs will race to their deaths abandon their teammates leaving them to die in turn just to get that one extra kill. Time for a NEW score system.

Positive scores: (doing these things will increase your score)
revives
assists
detonates
sheilds restores
debuffs/weakens
protects (biotic sphere)

Negative scores:
solo kills
missles used on non objective waves
running too far from teammates
bleed outs

This would encourage fun and team play.

PS: In order to appease the score **** enthusiasts, any player could enter solo mode provided they are actualy soloing and recieve a score based off the old system.

If you are playing for yourself and not for your team, your thinking is flawed. The XP is shared, if your team goes down you will probably die quicker.

I cannot even begin to enunciate how terrible an idea this is.

If by terrible you mean awesome, you are right :D

By terrible, I mean "my eyes were in so much pain that they exploded".

There are SO many reasons why all of the "point subtractors" are bad. Most of them involve you having to do them because your teammates are brain damaged and/or just naturally stupid.

If your teammates are bad, simply kick them? that's no excuse for bad team play.

I think you just answered your own suggestion with that

I also need to know what "solo kills" are, so you are suggesting I should almost kill and enemy and then run away so my teammate can get guned in the back because they thought I was covering them?

Also I meant you could kick people if you dont like their playstyle.. or leave that game

This issue is coming up again and again, why do you all seem to think that a faster game means a more fun game? If a match lasts 2 seconds is that the most fun you can have? seriously kids?

For some yes, it does

In some situations, it does.
My case in point: 6 days a week I'm limited to about 90min of game play due to my work schedule, I find this game fun, but I can't sit and play a 40min PuG game or even a 30min PuG game usually. So, the shorter the games, the more I can get in, thus causing more fun to be had before having to go to work.

That doesn't increase th fun that only increases the credits, which is besides the point, if you only have an hour, playing 2 games where you work cooperatively with a team in unquestionanbly more fun than playing 6 games where you sit and do nothinging because everything is killed before you get there. that's not fun for anyone.

If you come up with the definition of fun and are able to prove it, then you my friend would be a billionare

By definition mean come up with some guarenteed formula for a game to be fun for everyone

Oh another thing under this scoring system you have proposed, could you get unlimited points if you just had justicar casting bubble over and over?

If you had a GI melee and a volus paired up technically the GI would be doing all the killing while the volus healed him. Would this not result in either negative or 0 points?

OP - 5 pages later you are still the only person saying that this is a good idea. We have given reason after reason why staying within 1 foot of each player is tactically insane, why solo kills would make many weapons obsolete, why dragging a game out to 40 minutes is boring, and why hoping someone else will properly explode your power is an exercise in frustration.

If you're not having fun, go play something else. If you're frustrated that everything is getting killed before you can get to it, go PUG or get better at finding spawns. If you want to play with your friends, crack some jokes and have fun with it - so what if you come in last??

I don't care about the sacore. i care about my flanks being uncovered. I care about teammates dying across the map. I care that there is nothong to do because somone has nuked the spawns on wave 1 with missles. Thats what I care about. the score is just a way of getting other players to play as they should.

"The score is just a way of getting other players to play as they should."

There is no correct way to play

@OP

Another question, how do you stop people from trolling? I put on adrenaline 3 with a drell and I can spend all day running away. Now your entire team has lower xp because I have negatively affected the team.

These is if I care about having fun, which i do. If the game ceases to be fun, why should I play it?

You shouldn't

Right because the game doesn't allow trolling as it is? ever play hazzard reactor? :pinched:

1 Map that is easily avoidable in both map rotation and situation.
A very substaintial difference, you can control if you get trolled by the reactor, by not going onto that map or not going into the reactor.

What I proposed, the only way you could avoid that is use a drell yourself with adrenaline 3 and follow me around.

That is just 1 of your examples.

I could just missle every non-objective wave. Run away during objective rounds etc.

Ok I see your point, but you could make it so just their own score would be neagative and the team score/xp would be balanced out to counter.

so player 3 has a score of negative 9000, but the other three players are given 3000 each to compensate.

So here is another exploit for you, the negative score player just leaves. Now you just got score for nothing

OP it seems fairly clear that the definition of better for you is one that the majority on the board do not sure. I have to say after reading through, I havent seen a person agree with all the points in the initial post. All I have seen from a couple posters is "good idea, bad execution".

The insults that are coming from this thread are quite close to getting this thread shut down and people warned/banned.

There are multiple things which don't work with your plan as others have pointed out, furthermore something like shield boost, and bubble were dreamed up far after the game had been already created. You can't create a system around what you might do in the future.

There is another thread that takes some of the more "agreeable" points from this thread and is not having the same direction as this thread (ie OP vs the community). One in which you have also posted in and agreed with.

I will close this thread down if there is more general insults.
