I cannot even begin to enunciate how terrible an idea this is.

If by terrible you mean awesome, you are right :D

By terrible, I mean "my eyes were in so much pain that they exploded".

There are SO many reasons why all of the "point subtractors" are bad. Most of them involve you having to do them because your teammates are brain damaged and/or just naturally stupid.

If your teammates are bad, simply kick them? that's no excuse for bad team play.

I think you just answered your own suggestion with that

see but the probelm is that the current system doesn't properly distinguish good from bad players, it only tallis individual score leading players to believe that some team players are bad (when they are not) and some score ****s are good (when they are not).

Who cares about score. My quarian marksman is never on top but i know i did good by giving my team wallhax and make that prime stop shooting for a couple more seconds.
Its just a number.

I think you shouldn't dictate how games should be played, OP. Shouldn't we have the freedom to choose wheter to play as a team, and to win or lose as a team?

I also need to know what "solo kills" are, so you are suggesting I should almost kill and enemy and then run away so my teammate can get guned in the back because they thought I was covering them?

If your teammates are next to you they are tagging evey kill you do. if you are killing them before they can do that, you need to bump up the difficulty.

And if your on Plat and that happens?

You're logic is flawed, recheck your premise. The Destroyer standing in the face of the enemy is as much a team player as the Volus keeping everyone alive as the GI up on the high ground covering the hack on London.

What happens if your entire team bleeds out early in a wave or gets instagibbed? Your score would drastically decrease because you didn't die and had to solo a wave. That makes very little sense.

I do like the idea of debuffs giving more points though. That I can appreciate.

This is a pretty good rebuttal and encouragement in terms of all this. That said, there really isn't much wrong with the current score system short of trolls and people who like to think this game is CoD, which is neither everyone nor close to everyone.

You could get lucky that way yes, but you are more likely to run into the same issue over and over again.

There should never have been a scoreboard in the first place.

I don't see how that's logical. I mean I suppose a destroyer can detonate tech explosions well enough and can get assists as well.

If you want people to play in the way that you want them to, then you should find a group of like minded people and form a pre-made =P

It sounds like your system will punish me for using a single shot weapon that can cause me to solo kill any non boss-mob in a single hit.

Or for trying to get away from that Slash/Shockwave spammer when I'm sniping.

I often wonder at this myself. Maybe bioware never envisioned it would be used as it currently is by players.

The group I play with doesn't care about score, kills, etc. We simply play to have fun/get games done quickly. And, by playing that way, we end up doing things that, by your system, would cost us more then help us.
But yes, we have split up to erase spawns faster and move waves by faster, both with full parties and with 1-2 randoms from PuG's.

Edit: Spelling

Also: What about the GI/Javelin sniper with Phasic rounds that can OSK most enemies

That single shot weapon will work wonders on bosses and will still leave enough health on them to be taged by teammates.

That slash, shockwave spammer will be spamming in the opposite direction protecting your flank and leaving you with uninterupted shots. Hopefuly its a QFE thats next to you cryoblasting all your targets =D

score whoring, people running away at the speed of light in a quest to get the most kills, often dying far way from you  and leaving your flanks ungaurded

The point is that every action a teammate does will contribute to the bottom line. Let's face it, the Destroyer can handle drawing way more aggro than a Drell. And perhaps I prefer to detonate my own BE. Does that make me a bad teammate? Everyone also has their own play style. If player A likes to fight from a distance but player B is built for and prefers CQC, who's right?

And what am I supposed to do on Gold where bosses don't show up till wave 3(to say nothing of Silver/Bronze where it's even later)?

Admire the scenery through my scope?

Problem is that you'd have to limit yourself in order to not get negative scores.

This issue is coming up again and again, why do you all seem to think that a faster game means a more fun game? If a match lasts 2 seconds is that the most fun you can have? seriously kids?

And thats the whole fun of video games is limmitting yourself. If you could make it so your character had infinite health and could do infinite damage would that be fun? Of course not! When you limmit yourself you allow what you lack to be made up by your teammates, that dependancy adds real challenge to the game and promote cooperative team play. If you are a competitive person there are other games out there for you CODBO, Halo, CSS, ect.
