Penalizing for solo kills is a horrible idea. So many "foot soldier" characters can die from one shot most people would have no score, or a negative score, by the end of the match.

bump up the difficulty

Then you get people complaining about the game being too hard.. Welcome sir to the amazing world of game development! Where nothing is simple and you are probably wrong!

My goodness.. Reading the OPs ideas is making my eyes bleed...

Seriously though, the whole idea is fruity.

You're also lazy and have no idea how to make games anymore and were much better back in the day when you still cared about your "true fans".

I've heard that claim made against just about every developer with multiple games released.

Better is quite subjective today.

Your condescending tone is insulting. What I want from a team is players that kill at least as fast as I do. If I have to compete for kills I improve. This may not be competitive in the CoD sense but competition is still healthy. It makes everyone better.

If you are unable to kill as fast as your team mates and stand around doing nothing the entire match, maybe you should go down a diff or two. As a matter of fact, I wish you and other like you would you do nothing for my game.

Man is competitive. Though, if the state of my sons baseball league with their "everyone gets a trophy" mentality is an indicator, you and yours will soon strip him of that, along with his desire to succeed.

You're logic is flawed, recheck your premise. The Destroyer standing in the face of the enemy is as much a team player as the Volus keeping everyone alive as the GI up on the high ground covering the hack on London.

I don't see how that's logical. I mean I suppose a destroyer can detonate tech explosions well enough and can get assists as well.

The point is that every action a teammate does will contribute to the bottom line. Let's face it, the Destroyer can handle drawing way more aggro than a Drell. And perhaps I prefer to detonate my own BE. Does that make me a bad teammate? Everyone also has their own play style. If player A likes to fight from a distance but player B is built for and prefers CQC, who's right?

first: my drelgaurd would like a word with you

no matter how quick your CD is its always more efficient to have one player prime while another detonate. for example:

player1: snapfreeze
player2: overload
repeat
(results in CE's and TBS)

player 3:warp
player 4: reave
repeat
results in 2 BE's

More efficient, so what? It's a pub lobby, how many matches you end up with someone that try to coordinate prime and detonate with you? The numbers are beautiful, but on a real pub match? Things get messy...

So then here is what it boils down to:

Only biotics and tech classes are to be used. You aren't allowed to detonate your own BE, TE, FE or CE.

All players will be chained at the ankle so as not to stray too far from the rest of the team.

No high powered weapons that could OSK anything tougher than a swarmer. All enemies must be called out so that everyone can get at least 1 shot on said enemy.

All matches must be at least 40 minutes with all members getting revive medals or you must start over. At the end of the match, you must forward a video to OP and standby to be informed of you had fun. If OP decrees no fun was had you will re-do it until the proper level of enjoyment is achieved.

Did I miss anything?

teamwork is overrated in this game, partially because the players made it this way.
if you stand around waiting for stuff, getting frustrated, this game might have evolved past you, youre never going to be able to make others play how you want them to.
might as well run around too and enjoy the game.

so your logic is players have made the game unfun so you should keep playing it and have the least fun possible?

as anyone who knows me well, they know I'm perfectly capable of soloing gold with just about any character. that doesn't make it fun to play. teamwork makes the game fun. If soloing is your thing, go solo. But keep teamplay as an essentaila part of playing with a team.

So stop trying to protect this thread because your idea was even proven flawed by a dev.

one thing this accomplishes is killing any of the fun the game may have had.

If you are hurting for things to kill in a private match, then go play in PUGs?

Playing private games with coordinated players SHOULD encourage you to get better, learning the spawns and how to attack them efficiently.

Or you can always strive to be the big fish in public matches, considering the state of them these days.

From your N7HQ it's not like you're new to this game ... why is this an issue now 1300 hours later?

fun is a subjective term, i mean the players have decided they dont want to stop and stand at the entrance of firebase reactor and wait for the waves to come to them, they want to use the entire level.
that's not soloing, thats playing the game.
when was the last time you played a gold pug and everyone just stood there, waiting to work together at wave 1?
People dont want to stand around and wait like firebase white.

a noble cause, but ridiculous way of going about it.

btw on gold and platinum if the team gets a disable device its usually better if 1 person does those, usually in this scenerio its an infiltrator.

so should the infiltrator be punished for doing his job?
what about the rest of the team that is drawing aggro, should they be punished because they are not close enough?

what about escorts and hacks, some teams agree on having 2 people run the objective and 2 cover/distract the bad guys.

some hacks on the gold/plat need 1 person to cut off spawn points, so should that person be punished for doing something smart?

just giving you some stuff to think about OP, because its not so black and white.

faster never equals better, simple as that

better is working as a TEAM

when you play with your first good team you'll understand.

OP, I would ask that you consider adding two words to the majority of your posts and then consider how they may change the meaning of said posts. "To" and "me" are the two words I refer to. See how your statements go from "hey I wanna rule the world" to "hey let's talk about some ideas I have".

im pretty sure a dev already commented that fast DOES equal fun to some people, and once again, fun is subjective so your idea of fun is not the definition of fun...

Yeah merc, stop playing with those nabs like Annomander and the rest of those guys, who can clear a gold match in 17 minutes and have a great time doing so as well, and instead, slow down, take 30 minutes and play with some REALLY good public players who take forever to kill stuff.

Oh another thing under this scoring system you have proposed, could you get unlimited points if you just had justicar casting bubble over and over?

If you had a GI melee and a volus paired up technically the GI would be doing all the killing while the volus healed him. Would this not result in either negative or 0 points?

The thought of that is hilarious. OVER 9000

OP - 5 pages later you are still the only person saying that this is a good idea. We have given reason after reason why staying within 1 foot of each player is tactically insane, why solo kills would make many weapons obsolete, why dragging a game out to 40 minutes is boring, and why hoping someone else will properly explode your power is an exercise in frustration.

If you're not having fun, go play something else. If you're frustrated that everything is getting killed before you can get to it, go PUG or get better at finding spawns. If you want to play with your friends, crack some jokes and have fun with it - so what if you come in last??

What makes a game fun for me is running around like a crazy person. What makes a good team for me is four people that can run a chaotic match like that, still be effective, and still get decent clear times. Every single thing about your score system would make the game punish my version of fun.

Meanwhile, in the current system, no one is punished. Players can adopt any playstyle they like, and the end result will generally be the same XP and same credits for a completed match. The game doesn't try to force me to play any specific way. Why the hell SHOULD it?

I wonder how many times you can miss the point that your idea of fun is not law, OP.
Each post since the first page proves you have not realized it yet.

I would happily run up a negative score in that system.

In the end that's really the most important score of all.
