I reassure them sincerely by saying, "Don't worry, that Praetorian / Atlas would probably have survived anyway. Better to feel embarrassed than enraged. No one fights well when they are angry and mentally clouded. I took Tae Kwon Do lessons for eight years, and I remember my Master's lessons very clearly on keeping a calm, collected head during battle. From the beginning of class, we would meditate for an unknown amount of time. Sometimes, we would meditate for the entire duration of the class, just to show how important being centered was. I personally thought the Master needed to catch up on paperwork or wanted a snack. In any case, meditation brought many new internal lessons and answers to various life questions. This also taught me to be prepared for any situation, like all day meditation. I would mentally gather random questions I had in life prior to class, just so I could search my soul for any given amount of time. I brought extra ammo to the fight, just in case. And this, my friend, is why you should use armored compartments. The end."

Rereading this helps me to understand why my friends list is so empty. :(

I shot a missile at a group of collectors clustered around a Praetorian, quickly ducked out of site looked at the message in the corner to see what I killed, a seeker swarm.

Actually, everybody misses, but not everyone rockets the Atlas with one bar of armour left. On bronze.

So it could be worse.

OP - we call the phenomenon you describe a Reverand after a teammate of ours (to remain nameless) did this repeatedly in our speed runs.

Hitting an unintended target  pops up is not a miss it still killed something just not the intended target. Having it go through the body of the target is not a miss either it glitched not your fault you hit ti right on the money.

I may or may not laugh, depending on the situation.

I laugh when there's no urgency and someone just takes out their missile launcher to kill that one Atlas that seems to be pissing them off for some reason, but they manage to miss it anyway, that I can laugh when it happens.

But I do not laugh when, for example, I'd take out my launcher on Wave 9 or 10 to kill two or three Scions packed together with a Praetorian and ended up only hitting that Seeker Swarm that was supposedly right in front of me but I somehow never noticed. And so basically wasting that one missile (and missing my original targets) on that Swarm but ended up dying by the Scions cannon afterward. And then seeing the rest of my team coming to my "rescue" only to also die together where I fell, for the same reasons.

The above happened to me recently...

I still remember that time I fired at a Banshee that nearby a group of enemies, only for it to doge it by teleporting.

When the killfeed only showed "Raidenaveli[Missile Launcher]Swarmer", I was so embarassed.

I had the unfortunate chance of aiming for a killstreak only to hit a cloaked hunter that I didn't see standing in front of me. My reaction, FAIL!!!!!!

I don't laugh, because I miss often. Way often. Twice today, even. missed an Atlas twice. Then missed a banshee twice. Made up for it by nuking a scion and two harvesters later, though- the banshee still lived :/

usually what gets ME is when I go to use an ammo pack /Survival pack and it selects the missle launcher instead and I fire off one or two before I realize that I've switched. Took out a couple swarmers with a cobra that way.

Spent the rest of the game palming my forehead.

Earlier today I killed a Cerberus Trooper (I think) with a missle. I was hoping to get the Atlas near it but I overestimated the missles AoE. It was embarassing.
