More likely it will be locked in for pre-Cronos, if they can get a way work around the 'Wrex betrayal' thing.

Working around that is easy. If Wrex is dead, then it'd most likely be Grunt or another krogan placeholder, since Wreav is dead post-Tuchanka arc. Simple.SwobyJ wrote...

Not VERY simple. They'll need Grunt's voice actor, or whatever they need.
The structural sense, yeah, it's what they did for ME3 after all (when the original hope was, I think, to have temporary squadmates with ME2 characters). But they still need the VAs and often the writers.
And well there you go. You might be right because they brought all the writers back.
