Aim friction is important, but snap aim can gtfo as far as I'm concerned.

Snap to target is important if the game's max sensitivity is pathetically low like ME3's is.

Yeah, the turn speed just kills it for me. As much as it sucks to praise Call of Duty, that game does have a very good console control scheme. It's about as smooth as you can get on consoles, even if that isn't saying much.

After watching lots of xcal's videos, I can safely say that the aim assist in CoD on xbox is absolutely godly. Biower should've just copied it.

Don't even speak to me about that.

Watch any video of UT3 on consoless, the bullets fire at the nearest player, not at the cross-hair. Shooter games with THAT much auto-aim, it's not even easy mode, it's baby-mode.

Yet console players will say "Unreal tournament is just as good a game on console as it is on PC" - WRONG.

I have. We've been playing Modern Warfare 2 on PC together recently.

The standards for hackusations in that game is absolutely laughable. Sten and I have been hackused multiple times.

F*cking Goddamn, get your facts straight. I'll copy myself from another thread.

Aim Assist is not needed against an AI when you have great aiming skills with thumb sticks because repeatable movement patterns are easy to exploit. Anyone referencing PVP for AA effectiveness should consider that shooting people is different than AIs (scarce repeatable movement patterns), hence that is no argument in favor of AA when talking about a game which the sole point of it is beating an AI. Therefore AA can be a detriment in ME3.

Totally.  If you dig back through threads on this topic for ME2 (when aim assist for the franchise first went all psycho on us), what you'll find is that:

1) aim assist actually has five different components and even in ME1 where you could turn off aim assist, some of those components would still be active and for good reason

2) the snap zoom is the only part of the console aim assist that is actually causing issues (and, in fact, was the part that was turned off when you selected that option).

I'm not saying turn off aim assista altogether.  I realize that it always exists in some fashion on console shooters and for good reason.  But we did once have the option to turn off aim assist (actually only turning off the snap zoom component) and since they can't seem to tweak the snap zoom quite right I'd like that option back.  I could actually headshot with sniper rifles in ME 1.  In 2 and 3 I don't touch the blasted things.

I always found it to benefit automatic weapons the most, although quickscoping silliness did originate from console MW2

CoD 4 actually, due to a glitch where if you put the short range scope on a certain sniper rifle, it, for some completely incomprehensible reason, became the only sniper in the game where you could get a one shot kill to any part of the body. InfntyWrd pls

Incidentally, MW2's matchmaking is almost as good as ME3's. I guess that's one thing Biower stole from Infinity Ward.

I hate scoping and finding my aim at a different spot. I like aiming and having my aim corrected. With the damage penalty on most snipers for not zooming having an option would be important.

@OP

I feel your pain. Not only is the ADS correction over done, but after you scope in, the reduction in sensitivity is way too strong. If an enemy is running perpendicular to me, its like my reticle is stuck in the mud.

And this gets magnified for me because i use the XIM3 mouse and keyboard adapter for Xbox.

What I have learned to do, is regardless of where my reticle points when I ADS, I take the shot anyway. I would say a good 70% of the time I still hit whatever the game was trying to help me hit, even though it was no where near where I was originally pointing.

Have you noticed with the sniper rifles, sometimes you scope in on an enemy to find that the crosshairs moved to a different location automatically? That is aim assist. Or rather, aim hinderance.
