Force buffs combined with Havoc Strike's 3x force multiplier vs chilled targets make for an interesting upgrade. I'm looking forward to trying him out tonight.

Still won't change how I use havok strike(havok/melee combo). It's a mook killer, the boost in damage means I will probably just kill more mooks. Bosses I still need to bring a beefy gun, and use cryo to debuf.

IMO it was an overall nerf to the class. The small havoc strike buff doesn't make up for the large stim-pack nerf.

Edit: Oops didn't see that balance changes were up yet. I rescind my statement.

[Its significant in that now you can stagger Phantoms without needing to max out power damage in his passive.

This right here.  Havoc Strike is one of the few things that can reliably stagger a Phantom, now you don't have to spec max power/force to reach that number.

I was planning to, before the buff. Without his melee power, though.

Not a fan of Turians, tbh.

Maybe now Havoc Strike won't be the most useless power in the game.

I've been using it more often lately. Fun class. Just had to go power damage in rank 4 and 5 of the passive to attain the 1000+ force needed to stagger Phantoms. Now that won't be necessary.

Maybe. I've played one game with him and then spent a respec card on it and didn't bother to spend the points.

I actually sent Eric Fagnan an email last week regarding exactly this buff, complete with the math asking them to do exactly what they did (raise base force to at least 650N, increase evolutions to give at least 10% more). The reason this is a significant buff (as opposed to the original, token buff) is that you now can get enough force to stagger a gold phantom while still taking both radius and the turian weapon passives at rank 4, the only real bonus this class has over any vanguard. It has nothing to do with the damage amount, it has to do with the force.

This buff basically puts him in an interesting niche similar to the drellguard, who sacrifices health and shields (and a lot of them) for some crazy good weapon passives. Similarly, the turian havoc has a weaker charge in exchange for some really good weapon passives. It's something to consider, basically.

If you want to see the PM, I have a copy saved in my gists, I can link it.

What's funny is now the rank 4 Capacity/Power Damage evo is redundant... there's no point to ever take it again... since Havoc Strike cooldown is so short.

Buff rank 4 weight/power damage passive Biower pls!

The buff really helps his dual-strike combo's. He doesn't need an active Martial Artist to one-shot certain enemies now.

Buff or no buff, you melee things anyway

Lol, that period of time where I melee-all-the-things, my medigel supply dropped from a stable 50 to always below 10.

That's a good thing. The turian havoc is a strictly worse vanguard power-wise, but if you want both some survivability and serious weapon power (as opposed to drell guard), it's now actually an option.

Does running a claymore count as using the kit properly? If yes, then yeah!

You think that is significant? I doubt I would even notice the difference if it hadn't been pointed out.

He's better than he was, but the survivability loss still sucks. The ability to stagger a Phantom is nice - too bad you have a pretty break-even chance of getting sync-killed if you ever try to do so.

I will use him as I always do, cryo blast and raider.
Havok strike will always be a poor mans biotic charge.

Don't underestimate those 5% increases. With the base force bonus, they mean that at rank 4 you can stagger a phantom while still taking both rank 4 weapon passive and rank 5 headshot bonus. Before, if you didn't take both force and damage bonuses in the passive you topped out at 990N.

In fact, if you take enough increases in various places, it's now possible to hit the 1500N force threshold (which staggers all bosses on gold). It's still not the best build in my opinion, but it's still worth pointing out.

Good job presenting a smart analysis to Eric
