Javelin, I already knew that but I don't usually hide behind walls, it's not my style. If I use a sniper I stay back, but not so far back that I'm camping through walls. So to me this isn't an advantage, though I can see why other players would prefer it over other snipers.
Harrier: It's not even that accurate, I see my shots spray everywhere all the time, so DPS means nothing if you aren't hitting something constantly... though it is fairly accurate I can still dish out more damage from a greater distance with the Mattock AND use less ammo in the process.
Saber: I don't think the Saber is a bad gun, but I can still strip the shields and kill your enemy before you get your second shot off. Again the Mattock for me is the ideal AR. Again though I can see why other users would value this weapon, it's a heavy hitter.
PPR: I hate beam weapons. I don't want to stand still and try and aim a line at a guy while I take fire, I like to pop out of cover, lay one guy out and get back in quick. I also don't like the ammo recharging weapons because I find they drain way to quick, and not letting them drain is just well... why...
Talon: In all fairness I forgot about the Talon, it's pretty cute little gun.
Javelin... who says Javelin users just stay behind walls? More importantly... how is wall penetration NOT an advantage? That you don't like to camp (which isn't in anyway shape or form a requisite to take advantage of the wallhack) doesn't change the fact that the weapon's cover penetration is unparalleled and a HUGE advantage over other weapons.
Harrier.... not.... accurate? LOLWUT?!? That you suck with the weapon and spray your ammo all over the place isn't the gun's fault. Harrier is a very accurate weapon with a relatively low spread compared to most other assault rifles, fact.
Saber... if you can strip the shields and kill enemies before someone landed a second Saber shot it's because that person sucked with the Saber.
PPR... you not liking the weapon's mechanics doesn't change the fact that it's the best assault rifle at kiling a single boss.
You are entitled to your opinions about whether you like a weapon or not, but when you say that a weapon that is objectively good is "crap", don't expect people to take you seriously.
Javelin: I never said it wasn't an advantage, I said it wasn't an advantage TO ME, I quote; "TO ME". As somebody who isn't a coward, shooting through walls is useless to me, I've never needed the feature and never will. As I went on to say I can understand why OTHERS would like it or find it useful. I also never said Javelin users ALL stay behind walls... but the person I was responding too made it quite clear that's one of the guns key advantages, though anybody who's seen the loading screen knows that. I'm generally looking at the enemies in front of me, you know not being a goof hiding halfway across the map looking for enemies through goddamn walls. Plus lol any gun can have cover penetration now, drill rounds, your Javelin is garbage.
Harrier: Platinumed all 3 games, meaning insanity, and then also look at my manifest. Please, tell me again how ****ty of a player I am. I know how to play the game, even if you're shooting straight I still get shots that veer off to the left and right ALL the time, I know how to aim a damn gun, not to mention the game has autoaim built in. Sorry don't miss a single mattock shot, perfect aim trumps all... though it's not literally perfect I know how to use it as such. Also used right, no matter what you say, the Mattock WILL be more accurate than the Harrier because I can land a headshot everytime while you spit out 4 body shots at once. Also take note I said it's fairly accurate, I never said it wasn't accurate.
Saber: Tell that to him, he has more challenges completed, has accomplished things I can't (solo platinum). And I can still take his enemies. But again as I said I can understand why OTHERS like it. Even went on to say I don't think it's a bad weapon. Mattock is still more effective all around. But either way this is pointless, anybody can do better than anybody with any gun, too many factors to narrow it down to just what gun somebody is using. You know people die in matches, take hits which stun them, preventing shots etc. etc.
PPR: I can kill "boss" enemies in seconds with the Mattock, probably faster than somebody wielding the PPR, maybe if you're magic, never take hits and can always stand out of cover while you unload on a boss it's an awesome weapon, but all in all it doesn't hold up. You're acting like this is game where enemies stand still and we all shoot at the same time in unity, you fail to factor in combat, as everybody else here seems to, all people seem to care about is stats. I don't bring a gun in the game ready to kill just bosses, I bring the gun I can use in any and every situation. PPR is not that gun.
When I'm talking about a weapon being better, I consider all combat circumstances... all your stats mean nothing, literally nothing if you're being hit by a husk and just lost the enemy you were focused on. I'm not going to stand around like an ass with my PPR in that situation. If you had any of the above weapons I could outshine you with an Eagle if I tried hard enough, and you could outshine me just the same. Every gun is good in it's own rights, I won't deny that, maybe even the ones I neglect like the PPR, but I define a weapons worth by what it can provide me in battle;
Mattock = light weight, quick reload, fairly accurate (perfect if you don't shoot like a lunatic), heavy damage, decent ammo when used right + extended barrel and extended ammo clips and you're golden. I've yet to see a gun that can do for me what the Mattock does, it has literally has no disadvantage. In terms of versatility there's nowhere you can't use the Mattock, no situation where it's bad to use the Mattock, no character you shouldn't use the Mattock with.
Now maybe my first post was attackable because I said all the URs are crap... let me rephrase that, most of the URs aren't worthy of being URs, there are far better guns at lower rarity levels in terms of versatility... the N7 Typhoon is a good example for me, yeah it's powerful as hell... but it's start up to shoot, inaccuracy and it's weight are too much of a disadvantage for me to consider it a gun worthy of being a UR, I don't care what the flippin stats are if you can only get out 5 shots before the thing actually goes somebody else will likely have long cleaned up your kill. Or the Geth Plasms Rifle, that thing is garbage (imho) might as well be a marshmallow gun, no matter how much you buff it and what build you use, how is that thing a Gold yet the Mattock is Uncommon? You'll start to see their ranking for guns are messed up. Just because something has higher stats and advantages, doesn't make it better, all of these UR guns also have disadvantages. Harrier - Restricting Ammo for it's rapid fire nature and somewhat heavy, Javelin - Slow and heavy, Saber, both slow and heavy again. PPR I have no comment on, I haven't used it in ages, but I consider beam weapons and ammo recharge weapons to be a personal disadvantage for me. Yet, I still see no disadvantage for my Mattock.
