Interesting looking new RPG.   I heard you can turn into a Dragon in the game.  The few reviews I have read have been mixed but I rarely give reviews from big publications much credence.

Can anyone attest to this game's quality or lack of quality?

Actually interested in hearing people's opinions about this myself. Was considering picking it up on Steam.

Er yes, me too. I gather from reviews it's a bit more "actiony" than "rpy". Which makes me think maybe I'll be disappointed. After playing something like DAO, it's hard to imagine playing an rpg which is "plot lite". Sigh. You've spoiled me, Bioware, yes you have.

I don't expect it to be as good as Dragon Age but I think it might be good enough to hold me over until Mass Effect 2 and Return to Ostagar.
It uses the Oblivion engine so the graphics are probably quite good.

I hear the main problems with it are unbalanced difficulty(not a huge problem IMO), and high system requirements.

An RPG where you turn into a Dragon/human hybrid sounds awesome though in my opinion so this is a definite maybe purchase for me.  Still trying to decide.

IIRC, there is a demo of the game available for both PC and XBOX. I haven't DL'd and played it, though I plan to at least try out the demo when I get a block of time.

The Demo gives a good idea because it is rather long (at least two areas) and exactly the same as the full game. The down side is there is no saving and it doesn't remember settings, so ideally you'd play it all at once, which I never did. Still, it provided me with what I wanted to know and now I have the full game (in English woot).

I haven't played it much yet, but so far the 'unbalanced' comments indicate monster levels can vary widely depending on which side of a path you decide to explore, which seems weird. If you go left off a road and get killed instantly, try going right next time.

Combat is like Diablo 2 - as in click repeatedly until target dies. There are special attacks provided by pressing keys and using learned skills. Jumping also contributes.

Conversation is pretty good with very animated NPCs (I could fall in love with my commander lol). I enjoy it at least as much as DA:O (which didn't impress me much). The whole dragon thing is very interesting to me.

Mindreading is good for laughs and the occasional quest, but the XP penalty is ridiculous; how does reading someone's mind cost me the things I've learned? Silly developers, always inventing ways to force us to make decisions. There's no initial guarantee of success either, which is demonstrated in the first area. The XP penalty seems harmless enough as you spend from 1 to 3 XP to read minds, but that quickly grows up to 3,000XP in later levels. Tread carefully. (I'll probably find a way to hack XP to trivialize this penalty so I can play my way.)

At any rate, definitely check out the demo before making a decision. It's free and, unlike the DA:O Character Creator, doesn't delete your Program Files when uninstalled.

I'm not sure I'd call DA:O very plot heavy. There were plenty of colourful characters, but not much actually happened that felt part of the plot.

I tried the demo of Divinity II and while I can't comment on the plot much it is a lot closer to what oblivion should have been technically with fluid animations (maybe a bit too much so in some cases) and non-magical but nice looking terrain.

Based on the reception I have heard from actual players of the game, the game is actually very good so long as you're willing to overlook a few minor flaws.

I decided to buy it, downloading it right now in fact from Direct2drive.com.  50 dollars, hope it's worth it.

I will be getting it in next week. After I play it I will let you know what I think. A friend has been playing it on console and says it starts out slow like all rpg's but gets better as you go along. I'm going to be getting the PC version so we will see.

Alright, I have been playing this game and here is my synopsis.

It is overall a pretty decent RPG. The graphics are good even though the animations are quite strange. The music is excellent and the voice acting is a mixed bag.

The gameplay is fun and the controls are responsive and easy to use. One thing I have to say though is GOOD GOD is this game hard.

If you do get this game, make sure you do EVERY side quest. Never turn down any opportunity to earn experience points and play the game on easy unless you're masochistic.

I heard the game eventually gets easier though, but I'm not that far in. Good game to hold me over until Return to Ostagar and Mass Effect 2.
