What about a non-free MP DLC?

Like, to build a wall between all those loyal players aggravated by casual players who do not care about in-game etiquette or mechanics and join platinum lobbies with N7 10 for gigs and ****tles?

I mean, if you're into this game for real, you will pay that 30-50 bucks and will play with the rest of loyal players. If you're just "checking it out" and "playing to leech/glitch", you won't pay and will play with your kind.

Just a thought. Do you think there will be enough people to make a non-free DLC feasible?

P.S. I never whined about PUGs or anything myself, but I see a lot of whining threads on this forum every day

P.P.S.

wow, quite a turmoil i caused by an innocent suggestion xD

ok, so nobody wants to have a paid DLC which could become a wall separating them from the main playerbase (as far as i know, it is possible to play without dlc even now - so, nobody would have to pay for any upgrades,
Psycho Pisces, you would simply have less people to PUG with)

as i said, it was just a thought inspired by those who complain about PUGs and how hard it is to find a good match

if you're an elitist or a PUG hater - then just buy a dlc and enjoy the game behind a big wall, that was the idea of my post. i was just wondering is there enough people who would support this concept. it was not a request or any kind of offer (@OblivionDawn and @Happy Shepard xD)

as it appears, everybody either does not want to pay, or does not want to be a part of a "loyalist oasis". which is great, i think. it means that everybody is ok with status quo and pugs and everything, just like me

also, to all those offended by me dividing playerbase into loyal players who will buy vs. glitchers/leechers and casual players - i did not mean anything bad by saying that, and i do not think being a casual player is bad

i'm just saying that hard core loyal player will buy it no matter what simply because [s]he's that mad about it. If i didn't have money for a dlc, i would not have money for the game in the first place. casual - means, i can do without it and do not care much, will play without that dlc with the majority of the playerbase and be fine. hardcore - means i care a lot, maybe even to such extent that anyone who does not care about game mechanics or in-game etiquette makes me rage.

having said that, i am a casual player and not hardcore, and i would not buy such dlc

just to make sure there is no misunderstanding

a paid dlc would mean we wouldnt get the stuff in the packs, it would automatically be unlocked, and i doubt they are going to reinvent the model for the last or second last dlc.
maybe if they started it this way, but its too late.

It means I would stop playing entirely because I have absolutely no way to pay for it. I'm sure there's others like me in this boat.

I would not pay $30-50 for a single DLC for any game, full stop.

If the DLC added 2048 and 4096 maps and facial bones to mp peoples in addition to MEANINGFUL new content, sure. Chances of that ever happening?

At a lower price maybe..but then everyone would still have to download the compatabilty pack (a la "Marvel Ultimate Alliance") so it wouldn't work because it would force segregation which I personally don't want since I mostly play PUGs and don't mind casual players/randoms in silver

The great thing about the current model is that no matter what comes out, the audience never gets fragmented. Paid DLC will undo that.

Only if things like stunlock, sync kills and Phantom DR and other cheap bs gets fixed.

..or if there are Protheans.

The extreme amount of bugs and glitch, and the unbalanceness of the game restricts me from spending a single buck in DLC, packs or whatever else.

Lie. You bought Mass Effect. ;)

No honestly, just kidding right here, but there are plenty of things which don´t work preoperly in your life, which you pay for. Google for "planned obsolescence" if you haven´t already.

Happy customer life. ;)

QFT.
ME3 MP isn't good enough to make profit from it, and the queue times would increase when players with the paid dlc would want to play a map that came along with the dlc.
In short, people would leave the game.

I'm pretty sure they already have made a pretty good profit on the MP.

I've already paid more than that in the packs.

Get it? The packs are what's supporting the free DLC. It's the Pareto Principle. (80% Profits come from 20% of the customers)

It would divide the players and would be a slap in the face of people that buy packs to support the MP. Bad idea ever. Plus, I spend enough on SP DLCs...

Sure, they have made some profit.
What I meant is that MP isn't a huge game, and people won't pay for a new dlc like if it was some other grand mmo, like wow. And after the free mp dlcs, I doubt many will buy a paid dlc.

Are you running around in RL and ask people if they want to pay for free stuff?

I don't think so.

A paid DLC will divide the player-base, and you will find it way more harder to fill your lobbies.

True for most popular MP games out there like COD, Battlefield.. Once the DLCs start rolling out, finding servers with enough players and matching DLC set becomes a headache.
