Bioware can introduce all the new characters it wants (personally I hope they do, especially the female turian). But the reality is any new toy soon feels old & interest drifts off. If Bioware want to save themselves some time & money in endless DLC development and ensure multiplayer keeps on going there is a very simple solution...

FULLY CUSTOMISABLE CHARACTERS!

Give us maybe 3 of 4 blank slots in each class, which are unlocked in the usual way from packs.

Each unlocked character is a particular class but can be any species currently available in multiplayer with the usual appearance options.

Each new character can not only be any species but have any 3 powers you choose that are available to that class.

Each character created would have a set number of points at creation with each available power requiring a specific number of points to apply. More devastating powers would cost more points to prevent absurdly OP characters running around.

Respec cards and promoting would blank the character allowing you to choose powers again.

Custom characters could be recognised in lobbies by a name like Ultra Adept (or Adept Reckoner?)

:D:D:D

This idea would gurantee the game would never grow old as we would have an endless supply of new toys! Best of all from Biowares point of view it would all use existing models & powers, so reducing the development costs.

We could have characters that were truly unique and just the way we want.

Gameplay would be livened up for everyone because we may find ourselves playing with characters we haven't seen before.

Aren't you interested to see what other people would create? Imagine the forum threads sharing builds.

Here's hoping..!

edit:
A lot of people seem to think i'm suggesting all sorts of custom appearance options, like 'bow ties'. Nothing of the sort! In fact the whole idea hinges on using the existing models & appearance options to minimize the development work for Bioware.

The point is to be able to choose which powers you want with which character to keep things fresh & interesting for players for a much longer time, with an appropriate way of preventing OP characters.

Oh and changed title. not sure of problem hopefully this works.

I could see the store getting new cards ... power cards with Reave being a UR.

Won't happen with ME3 of course.

With the right constraints it could work i.e. make powers dependent on class and slot (1st - prime, 2nd - detonate - 3rd wildcard). Adepts could have the widest range of biotic powers to choose from for each slot but that selection would be limited by race (base health stats).

So for example for the adept class I might want to make a Krogan with Anihilation Field but the game says no. So with a krogan adept my options in terms of biotics (prime & detonate) are more limited than puny humans with base health but I have better wildcard options grounded in enhancing melee/short-range-combat.

Better.

Still would be an utter nightmare to playtest and balance.

Even character customization gets to be old and tired. I doubt that is what keeps a game fresh and interesting.

This idea isn't new (I advocated something exactly like this at least 8 months ago, and I doubt I was the first person to do so), but even if it's not original, it's still a great idea that Bioware should implement for their last DLC.

Unfortunately, I doubt they'll do so, since this would take more effort than adding in 6 characters using recycled armor assets and powers.

Blood lust, tech armor or barrier, shield boost = pretty much invincible with regenerating health and insta shields with iframes + dmg reduction on both sb and armor
