like what they do with thier mages?
They have a ton of books in there....
I was wondering if my mage would know and not want to let him out...
Do you think a circle mage would know about the qunari?

Possibly. There certainly are a lot of books there, but no-one says mages receive a well-rounded education. They are instructed in the ways of magic, that is all we know. Maybe that is practically the entirity of what they are taught.
Bottom line - a chance for meta-gaming. I think assuming either a mage does or does not know is a reasonable assumption either way.

Most of the books in the Tower probably concern magic. If young mages start learning about the world, they might start getting all sorts of ideas the Templars wouldn't want them to have.
Case in point: Wynne, who has lived her entire life in the Tower and knows very little about how things actually work in the Real World.
Have a very nice day.

I think a mage would absolutely know how the qunari treat mages. The templars probably tell them the first chance they get. "You want to run to Par Vollen? Make my day. I hear they keep their mages tongueless and on leashes there."

In Witch Hunt, you can inspect a large number of books in the Circle. While the great majority appears to be related to magic, some approached other topics such as Geography, History, Zoology, etc.
And yes, one of them was a study on Koslun, the philosopher who created the Qun.
