So I've very recently played through this game for the first time (couple of years late I know!) and I've seen on Wikipedia that it has been said by David Gaider that Hawke's story would be finished through future DLC.
Depending on when he said this, it seems that said DLC has not come to light as of yet. I'm aware that there was going to be "Exalted March" for Dragon Age II but got cancelled.
Is there any more news on this that I'm not aware of? I wouldn't exactly be raging if Hawke wasn't involved directly again, but it would be a bit of a shame if there was supposed to be a specific end for Hawke's story that is never going to see the light of day.
Thoughts?
Hawke's Story not finished?

Hawke's story was supposed to be finished via a DA2 Expansion that later got cancelled.

Which was unfortunate. I really wanted closure to Hawke's story.

Hawke had a story?
Jokes. But yeah, DA2's finished as far as anything goes, it boomed and failed, part of the bargain bin, long before the expansion was cancelled. We'll probably either meet Hawke again, or have some sort of reference to them in DA3 though.

I honestly hope we don't meet Hawke again in Inquisition. It would remove player agency from a character who is supposed to be the player's creation (although, admittedly, Hawke was overly defined by the writers to a significant extent). Also, I'd prefer to think of Varric's version of the overly passive Hawke who stood idly and did nothing - sometimes for years at a time - to be a fictional account of the real Hawke.
Frankly, the writing didn't do Hawke any favors, and the two story DLCs continued the problem by having Hawke do nothing about Corypheus possessing the Warden and Tallis getting the list (after an entire game where the Champion often did nothing in situations where he could have done something). If Inquisition provides another passive protagonist, I'll pass on it.
As for the Champion, I'd prefer to imagine that my blood mage Hawke is out there, leading a mage rebellion to overthrow the templars, with Merrill at his side leading some of the Dalish clans after her stand against the Order of Templars in the seat of Chantry power over eastern Thedas - a group who have been an enemy to the People since their incursion into the Dales centuries ago.
