Stop derailing this thread. We're done talking about David's nonsense. This thread is soley for discussion regarding The Intelligence.

Surely you did not think this thread of yours would get only positive replies, did you?

Does the word "Troll" ring a bell ?

I assumed that people here were capable of listening to reason. I guess I was wrong.

You could have known, i'm sorry. I respect your opinion but it's just... you could have known that people would not follow you on this one. Personally I refer to it as the Catalyst, never used the word glowboy or anything. I assume that the catalyst took the form of the boy to look as friendly as it could to Shepard. The boy itself has nothing to do with it.

Still you could have realized the ****storm you would unleash.

Allow me to ask a serious question of everyone posting on this thread.

Does the Catalyst have power over you as a person?

Not Shepard - but you. The person sitting behind the computer.

You need to get yourself a girl, man.

Why would he have power over us?

Because he ruined a story you very much enjoy. He caused you to become angry or upset or frustrated.

Is that not power?

LOL.
I take the Catalyst seriously when I play, and I never use those "nicknames", but that's only because I mentally tune out the parts of the conversation that make no sense and I don't want to ruin the story for myself. The writing of the conversation is so bad in parts that I understand why people call it names, and giving it the appearance of vent kid was a colossal blunder as well.

As for listening to reason....people express their emotional dissatisfaction when they call the Catalyst names. It has hardly anything to do with reason.

I would argue people ridicule stuff that is so bad it deserves derision.

Yes actually.

It has power over how I have to end ME3. As a person, I don't want to end ME3 the way the Catalyst wants me too.

It forces my Shepard to buy into it's agenda, and if I don't, it's forced defeat.

In essence, glowstick is BW, and Shepard is me.

Just as the glowstick is enforcing it's will on Shepard (by making him accept the organic/synthetic conflict, BW is trying to tell me the same thing. Except that I don't. I think BW was incredibly arrogant in some cases, and incredibly time pressed in others. This dangerous combination made them was toxic for their writing.

This.

Just because I use childish nicknames for the Catalyst doesn't make me illogical or irrational. I can discuss it with a very level head, it's just a method of venting frustration and voicing dissatisfaction.

If that's all it takes to establish power over something mosquitoes are possible to most influential beings in the world.

While I do agree that calling it a kid is a dumb way to disprove its credibility, ultimately the blame is on Bioware for making it take the form of a kid.

I call it a poorly written plot device designed to present the endings to Shepard. I will admit at least Leviathan gave it some foreshadowing before the ending, but still it could've been better written.

Yeah, I'm not big on any of those terms apart from 'Catalyst'. Because that's what he is, see.

Also, the variations of "Starchild", "Ghostbrat", "Jar-Jar-Taj-Mahaj", etc. are a little misleading. I've seen more than a few people who think that the Catalyst literally is a ghost who looks like a boy, or that the kid what died at the start actually is the intelligence behind the Reapers. Aside from being inaccurate, surely it's giving the kid too much credit. Why would the grand controlling intelligence be running around playing with his toy space ship on invasion day?

You don't spend ten months on a forum to complain about mosquito bites.

You look on this forum any day of the week, and you'll find it full of people practically begging BioWare to add this or that or change one thing or another.

That doesn't sound like a position of power to you?

I've been complaining about mosquitoes for years and not just on the internet, seriously Dr. Freud sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

And +1 for what Tomwew said.
