It IS disgusting.
Disgustingly delicious. And really the only thing that's unusual for western tongues is the seaweed. Try the Wakame salad ... derrrrishous!

Dude, like any place that sells Japanese food sells sushi. Hell Chinese restaurants sell sushi sometimes, and sushi's not even from China.

Matter of fact, there are probably Asian buffets around you that have sushi available. Along with other Japanese food, Chinese food, Korean food, Mongolian, etc etc

I wouldn't get any raw stuff from a buffet if I were you.

Sushi fresh, or GTFO.
First of all it only tastes good if fresh, secondly, yeah, unless you know it's fresh, stay the **** away from raw ingredients.

I will say I like msot sushi, but I don't much care to stare at it and it does smell frankly fishy. So I don't blame people for being hesitant to try it. I'm sure a Japanese person would be worried about trying some dishes found in other parts of the world. Food is tied to a persons culture.

I find the scent of sushi pleasant, to be honest. Never have I thought it to have a particularly bad odor, especially since there's all different kinds.

I love sushi, but it's too expensive to eat very often.
