When trying to kill the thresher maw on Grunts mission on insanity should i use the m920 cain or the collecter particle rifle? Also should i bring Miranda or Thane?

I would say Thane over Miranda. His passive weapon damage will make him slightly more useful against the Thresher Maw than Miranda would be. His Warp is also as good as Miranda's.

The Grenade Launcher may be better in the long run against the Thresher Maw. Depending on how much heavy weapon ammo you have, you may only get in one Cain shot. I have never tried the Collector Particle Beam. It may be okay, although I do not think it gains any damage bonuses versus armor so I am not particularly sure how useful it would be.

i can carry 175% in the cain and i think there is some weapon ammo on the map. will the 1 (or 2 shots) with the cain do more or less damage than all of the ammo of the the grenade launcher?

Use guns and powers. He's even pretty easy for Adept Insanity, it takes about 2 or so minutes though but you got plenty of time.

What's your class? I've killed the Thresher Maw very easily on the first try on Hardcore with a Widow Infiltrator and one shot from the Cain. I didn't even get spat on except once at the very beginning, it would just hide underground and pop up elsewhere as soon as I took a shot at it.

Of course, I've never had any trouble with taking out Thresher Maws on foot in ME1, either. Circlestrafe+ Master Marksman= far easier than evading it in the Mako.

I think the difficulty of fighting Thresher Maws is vastly overrated. Now, Oculus, that's a different story entirely.

Have a very nice day.

There are areas of the map where its acid won't hit you, you just need to stand in those areas and shoot at it (behind a couple of unbreakable pillars, from memory, though its been quite a while since I did that fight).

I personally wouldn't rely on the Cain.

I think Mordin is overall the best on both Tuchanka missions (he's required on Old Blood, but still)... and I would tend to pick the squad for Rite of Passage based more on the Varren wave than the Maw since Shepard will likely be doing the bulk of the damage to it.

But I end up taking Garrus most of the time, mainly for +5% bro bonus.

Done Garrus's loyalty mission? If so, bring him with AP ammo. If not, do it, then bring Garrus. All enemies in this mission are armoured. An ammo power on a hard hitter will do more damage than an occasional warp.

Presumably you can respec sentinel Shepard with an ammo power, either AP or warp. Do so (AP preferred for this mission, although there is one enemy with barrier). Grunt should have inferno ammo.

Not sure I'd recommend the Cain. You'll have to expose yourself to charge it up, thresher maw might disappear, you might even miss. Heavy pistol with a good ammo power should be sufficient.

I never had problems with the worm, I usually stay in one spot, in the middle, the metal circle is, and when it spits acid, I dodge. I usually use my heavy weapon first, then heavy pistol or AR. If I use AR, I have mattock, since it is the best AR out there, just "finger click" fast.
