The difficulty level

I am really enjoying this game. The storyline and everything. It's nice to have a game like this again. Tho since I'm an oldskool Baldur's Gate player I do have a few issues with DAO. First little thingie is that there are just about 6 different mobs in the game. Or atleast.. it looks like it. After hacking dow 200 hurlocks and genlocks I'm not as excited anymore to kill those other 200 aswell. But I guess that will be fixed with downloadable content.
Than my biggest issue. The difficultylevel. I'm playing on Nightmare at the moment and unless you handicap yourself to go without a healer and potions I find it very difficult to die. I can't believe that I'm that good. I would like to hear if more people have the same experience as I have. I expect nightmare to be a nightmare. Leaving me with big bosses wich take me hours to figure out and wipe again and again. It's not fair ofcourse to compare DAO with Baldur's Gate (2), but those games had some real fights that kept you busy for hours on nightmare (or I think the difficulty level was called insane or something like that).
I hope bioware will fix this. Ofcourse I will play this game still and buy the expention, cause the story is awesome. But I'd like you (Bioware) to challange me and probably others.
Thank you

I feel sorry for the people who admit they have difficulty. These petitions for more of a challenge must do wonders for their self esteem.

Well, it's nice to see someone standing out amongst the masses shouting 'I'm having trouble!', and then proclaiming, 'It's too easy!'

It's not their fault, video game developers have been making games that rarely require more than the player remain awake to complete for the last decade give or take a few years (specifically in the RPG genre) . Or games that are twitch based instead of think based. It takes a while to get up to speed if you don't have a frame of reference to draw from.
I think games have started to get harder again, SoZ improved the NWN2 AI and had a couple of tough fights (The first temple with the Yuan-Ti). Drakensang had a few tough fights early on too (The rat boss fight was as tough as anything in DA:O if you did it when you first got the quest) though the difficulty dropped off. Here's hoping the trend keeps up.

To an extent, but it pays to keep the game challenging and not frustrating. A new generation of games like Ninja Gaiden might be too much.
