Please, could it be possible for you guys to actually give shoes/boots to the elves, especially ou companions?  T'was pretty weird and mood beaking having Fenris and Merrill walking around almost barefooted the whole game...

Thank you!:P

I honestly think it added a lot to their character.

One could argue that the DA2 redesign made the elves seem *too* alien, but I think going barefoot was a nice passive touch that says a lot about what I believe made the elves special in the first place.

Honestly, I didn't even notice they were barefoot. I bet that's all I'll see now, lol!

God, I hated this. I realize it's easy to miss, but it's just so silly.

Honestly, I thought the barefoot thing was stupid. Well I thought the redesign of elves as a whole was stupid. But this is about the lack of shoes, which is only a part of that.

So yeah, I'd welcome the return of shoes/boots.

Among others, I never noticed that until you mentioned it. Unless there's some lore/story-related justification I'm missing or unaware of, I'd add some shoes on them. No shoes, you lose?

I quite liked them walking barefoot. I felt (and this is my opinion, I've never asked a designer) that it was because they were such a "nature" race. Wanting to be so intouch with nature, the idea of wearing shoes would seperate them from the earth they loved, so they go barefoot. And after generations as well as being raised that way from childbirth, their soles are basically as thick as boots anyways.

Even city elves continued to wear no boots as a lingering vestige of their ties to their past, one of the few things that couldn't be taken away from them.

Point taken. I get the In-Touch-With-Nature part of their heritage, I just had a hard time seeing barefoot elves standing on hard concrete for hours on end with no ill effect.

While Zevran, who doesn't really care for elvish past, can be gifted boots to remind him of Antiva.

I guess that can be chalked up to the redesign, and no one's gonna give it THAT much thought. You know, screaming, "Y he wear/no wear boots? NAOOOOO!"

I can understand your mindset Priestly. Though I'd rather they wear boots and shoes, its cool to see how others perceive things.

but in the CE origin in DA:O we know mothers create shoes for their unborn child when pregnant, and in fact the would-be Warden received the boots her mother created at the time for s/he.
isn't it a little strange if even the city Elf don't wear shoes?

Not to say it wouldn't make sense in combat.

Even if you have soles as strong and thick as leather boots, the top side (dunno if you have another word for that in english) would still be exposed and a target fro enemies.

I'm not a combat expert, but it seems like a flaw to me.

Yes, please! My Mahariel wants her shoes back!

Now, seriously. I wish for the return of shoes for the elves, as well. One of the reasons for that being that you're much more likely to injure yourself whether crawling through a forest or while fighting. Feet are quite vulnerable a spot. If we must have elves without shoes, I'd like to have the option to equip my elven fighters... well, you know, like fighters. I mean, using shoes at least where it makes sense would be nice. Eh, even Merrill mentions that she wishes she wore shoes at times, so elven feet can't be that everything-resistant.

Thats not taking into account fireballs and other magic that effects the environment, that being barefoot would be worse if you had nothing covering your feet.

actually if they didn't wear shoes their whole lives their skin on their feet would be as hard as leather. if you look at places like in certain places in africa and certain other places where they don't wear shoes they have no problem walking on rocks and pebbels that make people who wear shoes hurt when they walk on them

I didn't really notice it. Although I suppose it makes more sense for Merrill to do it than Fenris.

I liked it, made them seem poor, or at least poor enough to live in the slums. If I have to choose between food and footwear it's probably going to be food. Thats just my reasoning for it and why I like it.

Bwahahahahaha, because of me you'll never be able to un-see their silly bare-footed-ness

Even with the assumed "Tree huggers" thing about being close to nature or  heck, even saying that City elves are too poor to afford shoes/boots, I would still prefer booted elves. I mean Dwarves are close the the Stone, right... ain't never seen a barefooted Dwarf before, even in Dust town! ;)

I see that YOUR ELF didn't walk yet in a troll dejection while hunting in the forest ... when it will happen i'm sure he won't mind thinking twice about the concept of boots and shoes Posted Image

I think it fitted in with Merrill to go around bare foot. Fenris on the other hand, i felt didn't wear shoes as they got in the way of his Brooding.

Bioware complained that Origins was too much like LOTR yet in DA2 they have a whole race who goes around barefoot because there feet have soles that are like shoes which seems similar to another race from LOTR.

I personally didn't have an issue with it. Would be nice to see issue expanded upon by something like you're walking by and see a city elf wearing boots and getting castigated for betraying his heritage.

Yet another request for BioWare which they're probably going to ignore because it's frivolous and incredibly subjective. God are we ever hurting for some real news about DA3. We really, really need some actual info so that we can have something concrete topics which are worth discussing.

However, since I'm already ranting, I might as well throw in my two cents.

It's strange that OP finds feet "mood breaking". Fenris being barefoot was weird, but I can buy a Dalish elf walking around with no shoes, even if they do canonically craft leather boots, given that Dalish boots are equipable. It suits the Dalish elves' whole "children of nature vibe".

Plus, if the character has feet that look anything like Cate Blanchett's (she played Galadriel in The LOTR and The Hobbit movies), then I'm really not going to complain. Now Galadriel was one sexy barefoot elf woman!
