So?

I see my toes when i'm wearing sandals.

I'm just saying its not technically barefoot. This of course is splitting hairs but hell, this thread has exhausted anything to really talk about anyway.

I mentioned this earlier, but he's been running around that house of his for years with all those dead bodies which he never bothered to clean up. Let's not forget that bottle of wine he smashed up and I bet there is bound to be all manner of things that those toes are all gummed up with that we would rather not know about.

I agree with Chirs, the elves are a nature race, it makes sense for them to be 'in touch with the earth'. I hope they stay that way.

I actually liked the barefoot look... so much so I wish my characters could go barefoot or at least wear leather strap sandals. Not a lover of boots or knights of the bland table fashion in games at all.

I actually liked the idea of Dalish elves being barefooted, I don't know, but for city elves? It makes no sense. How about if the Dalish are barefooted and the city elves aren't?

How does it make sense for the Dalish? They wore boots in Origins. The ancient Arlathan elves had armor with boots. I don't really get how it makes more sense for the Dalish when they are only nomadic because they lost the Dales in a war with the Chantry and the Orlesian Empire.

Have you ever heard of this magical little thing call retcon :wizard:?

Now, with all seriousness, maybe is a new habit

I loved the barefoot elves. It added more to their culture and customs. I agree with Priestly that it showed a connection to nature, which is what elves are associated with. I really liked it and hope they keep it for DA:I

I'm okay if there's a variety. Some have toes, and some don't.

So they give up their shoes and boots to walk over rough terrain that can seriously harm their feet? I don't see why the elves would give up their shoes or boots as a new "habit", and if it's a recton, it really doesn't make any sense, especially since Merrill and Fenris complain about not wearing shoes - although I think that's because the writers didn't think it made any sense, either.

I agree. There is this warrior elf and he is not wearing shoes to battle? I mean really? What if some armoured plate boots ends up on your bare foot? It´s ridiculous.

Its like people going to battle without pants.

Give them boots. Legolas had boots. People, elves wore boots. There is a ****** on the floor, blood and stuff. And they walk on it barefoot.

And no more anime bishounen elves.

I don't mind having this barefoot to certain characters such as Merril but having this on every elf is stupid and basically just taking this idea from another fantasy story...

Feet creep me the hell out and I don't want to see them on anyone.

Being "in touch with nature" doesn't prevent them from cutting themselves on a sharp rock. Unless we're saying that elves have remarkably tough skin now, they should wear some damn shoes.

I'll admit that I find the barefooted elves thing to be nonsense. It's like they tried to think of a way how they could make the elves more like a 'children of nature/hippie/naturist' stereotype people think of when they think of elves in fantasy.

It's not something I spend a lot of times thinking about, but it is visually jarring (and a bit goofy) at times when you didn't see it in Origins and you see characters like Athenril barefooted and I think "shouldn't at least elves like that not dress like that?".

Mind you the elves in general could really do with being reset to their Origin looks. Either that or a slight tweaking so they no longer look like bug eyed skeletal giraffes. :P

If the game's narrative is as compelling as Origins, the skill trees are just as interesting as DA2, and the combat is still as tactical as Origins and as smooth as DA2's, then I don't care if the elves even have feet at all. They can walk around on stumps or float all ghosty in the air for all I care.

I can understand it with the Dalish living out in the woods. Not so much with them constantly walking around human cities though. Who knows what lines the streets and alleys of Lowtown. I can imagine all kinds of trash, broken glass, rusted bits of metal, and depending on Kirkwall's sewers, rivers and streams of human filth.

If you add wristpockets to the socks you would have old German Tourists :)
