Where do you fit it in? Between all the Havoc Striking/shooting... what are situations where you use Cryo Blast (besides obvious boss debuffing)?

I'm not trying to be snide.. I'm genuinely curious to hear everyone's opinion. An actual conversation on BSN that won't turn into a bunch of bickering.... who'd of thought? Image IPB

Forgot to mention, Cryo Blast has a really short cooldown, if you Cryo Blast -> Claymore, the cooldown will be over at the same time you can reload cancel your Claymore, so it's basically a "free" power. It can help if you have trouble shooting moving targets.

They don't even give you the chance to dodge backwards. They melee/grab you as soon as you get there ... Also, their lasers can somehow hurt you during Havoc Strike :?

i tried the claymore havoc yesterday, its really a beast. my build is a bit different, i take power damage instead of headshot, and i take both fitness and stimpacks to rank 4. i also realised that cryo blast is excellent for reload cancel. even without headshot damage bonus, one headshot killed everything but bosses.

this havoc can cause a ton of damage. insane.

Ahh, very true about the CB cooldown. I do have SOME trouble from time to time hitting laterally moving targets with a solid Claymore shot (usually Dragoons).

You're right about the lasers... I tried to use HS to tank them earlier tonight and still took damage Image IPB

About the Praetorians... if you back dodge during the HS animation, you'll get away. It's actually so fast that the HS animation doesn't completely zoom in... the first scene in that link it looked like you just stood there and took the melee. The third scene... yeah... that was some BS.

Ah, this place is not tha bad, once you learn to filter all the **** that runs around ;)

Well, even if it was just for boss debuffing, I'd still take cryo blast over fitness any time, on the havoc.

And that is surely its main use. Other situations in which it can be useful are packs of non shielded mooks as CC, freezing dangerous enemies that are nearby teammates (abomination, I'm looking at you!), and staggering enemies in difficult situations, such as if a temmate is going to be stomped soon and you don't have the time to HS. Maybe other uses as well, but they don't come to mind at the moment.

Given the way I use the havoc, I'm on stim packs roughly 80% of the time. Some more shields when I'm not are not going to be a huge help, to me :)

In the third scene, the Praetorian probably meleed someone else just right before Feneckus HS it. It looks like what happens when you charge an enemy that just meleed.

That's what I figured.

Sounds like you guys use your stims a lot more than I do... but I guess without fitness you pretty much have no choice.

I got some respec cards... I'll give the no-fitness Claymore/Havoc a go tommorrow.

If you want to be a stupid troll trying to bait people because you have no sense of humour and are just generally immature, go act like a child elsewhere and leave me out of your asinine / moronic posts.

For the record...

I played a game with a host who was cheating, here are the pictures. At first, I put his "shotgun high velocity barrel" (which he had on his typhoon) down to being simply a visual glitch, however, the same weapon mod appeared on his gun in game. We had infinite ammo, and I exitted the game at wave 3 and reported.

Praetorians can sync kill you on impact shortly after they spawn. I don't know how long they have to be in play before the melee requirement kicks in though. They are also among the annoying enemies who can melee you on impact causing a stagger and follow up with a sync kill before you can do anything. It's a bad idea to HStrike (or Charge) those buggers in all circumstances in my experience.

Ah yeah, the spawn thing. Annoying as hell. It's true for any sync-capable enemy, I think. Surely it is for Phantoms and Brutes

About charging a Praetorian, it is safe to do it while it's performing an animation (not the melee one, though XD) or floating, as long as you instantly dodge back. Don't know about the the Broguard and Kroguard, as I never play them. When it's simply walking on the ground it's very dangerous to charge it, although you can get away something like 75% of the times on host. Even more, maybe, if you're a Slayer/Havoc.

I only charge Praetorians when lasering or launching missiles.

Seems to work.

Why would I just stand there and do nothing ? I tried to get away but I couldn't.

No one was even near that praetorian :?

But it's like the phantom on Condor, sometimes they just decide to sync kill you without any warning.

The phantom on Giant was weird though, she did melee before my havoc strike, but she didn't even get staggered by Havoc Strike and went straight for the kill. And that stupid on-host DR, I get a perfect headshot and I can't even take out half her barrier ? Ridiculous ...

PS3

I would just like to add that I've played with CmnDwnWrkn before and he was a perfectly competent and capable player. I don't agree or disagree with his views, but compared to most of the bad PS3 Gold players, he's pretty good. Take that for what you think it's worth, I guess.

His skill as a player doesn't matter, he's just trolling anyway.

His views may be erroneous, but I don't think that he's trolling. Sharing an opinion that people don't agree with it is not the definition of trolling. And personally, calling someone a troll is baseless and kind of cowardly, because you don't have to make any kind of effort to disprove his remarks, you just write him off.

Like, I don't know if you know this, but saying that someone is a troll is essentially social censorship. You're not responding to his claims, you're just blacklisting them. And yes, some people are actual trolls, but they are much less frequent on gaming sites, especially sites for games that have been out for some time.

I have no opinion on the discussion of PC modding, it doesn't affect me. I just want to point out that sweeping him under the rug doesn't help either side.

I don't know if you know this, but having a dissenting opinion does not automatically mean you're a troll. For one, trolls don't usually apologize in threads for making sweeping generalizations.

I tried this tonight and...not for me. Constantly Havoc Striking and dodging with no pause after firing the Claymore meant that I effectively had teleportitis, and frequently ended up getting killed like a rookie vanguard, at the feet of something huge and all the way across the map from my team.

Glad you found a use for this guy, though.

He is a troll because of his assumption that anyone who has made a PC video is modding files is blacklisting our work and labelling us as cheaters.

We have no wish to intelligently engage with someone with those views.

...all console players are obviously missile glitchers, of course.

What I think happens in this scenario is that the enemy tried to melee as you were Striking / Charging.  I believe it is similar to how Guardians can melee you out of a Biotic Charge or Havoc Strike.  The Strike / Charge might have covered up the initial animation (or interrupted it in the case of Phantoms), allowing them to sync kill you immediately thereafter.

I agree with you generally speaking that calling people a troll seems an abused practice on the internet; in this case disregarding him was a taste of his own medicine, given his own prejudicial, offensive, inconsistent claims.
But he apologized and withdrew his words, I see no reason to continue to quote his posts and reply.

Try him without cryo blast with full fitness, and take the Reegar Carbine instead of the Claymore. It's easier to use and more effective.
Also, avoid to Havoc Strike near units that can sync-kill you.

Nicla, you're smarter than this :( :(:(

That guy was just a troll, he had his fun and then when he had enough fun he "apologized" to try to keep his credibility so that he could keep trolling in the future ....

I was sort of assuming the guy apologized because a mod made him under threat of ban. But I have no evidence of this.
