The chargeless acolyte will soon be returning back to being a charge up weapon.

Past balance changes were moved over to the patch to speed up the time it takes them to download from the server. The snapshot that was taken was when the acolyte was a no charge weapon, it is now overriding the original dlc in much the same way the balance changes do.

It is expected that the charge mechanic will be restored shortly

EDIT:

This is also kind of what is happening with the Turian Sabetour and the Male Quarian Marksmen. The cap for these in the patch 5 (despite not having skin tone) and has become authoritative. So you will only get 2 character cards above what is normal.

So does that basically mean the game has, temporarily, gone back in time a few weeks in terms of balance changes?

You know, it was never a ultra fast firing weapon, so even when it had no charge it was not like you were blowing enemies away with Harrier or Hurricane like speed. The charge is flawed because, you can hold the fire button and still not be able to shoot. You have no sense of consistency or when you have to release at a minimum to get the weapon to fire at all. It is the only weapon that has this problem. So, please either make it so that hitting the trigger causes it to fire perhaps at a set delayed time or make it a variable charged weapon scaled damage set up like you have for Graal, GPS, and Arc pistol. I do not care if you start the scale at 100 points less damage for a uncharged shot and up to the current damage for a max charged shot or not, but as it stands, it is clunky to say the least. And probably the clunkiest way to use a weapon of any weapon currently in the game.
