Why do people hate Priority: Thessia?

In fact, having just finished playing ME1, story-wise I'm surprised at how many similarities there are between ME1 and ME3. ME3 is a better story though, but ME1 ends better.

Why did Leng kill the scientists, leave their bodies lying there in plain sight, but lock the door from the outside? So no one but Shep could get it? Makes no sense either.
I think that Shep had to be the one to retrieve it, as Leng was indoctrinated. The VI had fail safes that prevented it from being activated by an indoctrinated individual.

I had no problems with taking Liara with me, it made sense since it's her homeworld and I would have taken her with me even if the game hadn't made me take her with me (same with Eden Prime). What I had problems with was her acting like Thessia was the only world being attacked, or that the asari were the only people being Reapified. And it was horrible only because they were asari. Like Garrus and Shep don't have a hard time shooting husks, marauders, brutes and cannibals? Especially brutes and cannibals since they are to species merged together. And acting like the Alliance isn't fighting their own fights. I understand her being upset because it is her homeworld and her people, but such elitism has never been part of Liara's character and it irritated me that it suddenly was part of her character.Yate wrote...
I would support making the mission longer, but then we'd just get more whining from the Liara-haters.
I was also annoyed with how easy gameplay wise Kai Leng was to beat, but had such tough plot armor. And I was annoyed that Shep couldn't call out Tevos for not telling her about the beacon ages ago.

Actually, I'm going to support BirdsallSa on just this one point. Cerberus salvaged the CPU of the human reaper, which could be used to hack the VI.

However, the issue is, how did they manage to get that tech, even though I blew up the Collector base?

How many times must I post that the Cerberus gunship was using Reaper tech. This isn't some run of the mill merc ship that was put together by a bunch of people who just learned how to hold a hammer.TheCrazyHobo wrote...

Apart from that I loved Thessia. The sight of that Reaper against the sunset is one of the most stunning visuals in the entire game. And Javik is awesome to bring along. "YOU HAVE AN INTERESTING CONCEPT OF SAFETY!"

That would be an assumption, it was nowhere stated that Cerberus obtained any tech from Sovereign. An easier explanation would be that it was retconned.
Why jump to that conclusion? See Occam's razor.

Actually that is not true. When you raid the Cerberus base and watch the file videos you learn that they retrieved tech from Soveriegn which was used in creating EDI.

Because Anderson mentions illegal salvage that was happening on the Citadel when they were cleaning up after the "geth" attack. You don't think Cereberus would have been there to take advantage of the chaos and pick up a few pieces of Reaper tech?
Edit: and what lostmercenary99 said.

In his defence, if I was Shepard I'd be depressed too for losing in such a pathetic way, no matter if renegade or paragon.lostmercenary99 wrote...
My only problem with Thessia was the after affects it had on Shepard. I just didn't really buy that either Shep, be they paragon or renegade would let this affect them so badly. Earth, sure I could get that, but Thessia? C'mon... Ok, they did lose Vendetta to Cerberus so that might have contributed to it but nearly all versions would have got their **** together insantly, and gone after them without moping.

EDI says after you unshackle her: "It appears that my design includes hardware recovered from the wreckage of Sovereign." Which Cereberus salvaged pieces of Sovereign off the Citadel.

Don't get me wrong, Shepard having the Cipher and thus is the only one able to access the needed information makes sense, but there are still a whole lot of questions. Maybe if the coup happened after Rannoch, Councilor Tevos could be kidnapped, and as a result Cerberus finds out about the beacon, and, knowing Shepard has the Cipher thanks to Lazarus, deliberately leads her to Thessia and lays a trap, sabotaging the pillars with explosives in an attempt to kill her after the data is retrieved.
Just typing out loud here, ignore the headcanon solutions.

Haven't played ME2 in a while. I concede my point about Cerberus obtaining reaper tech.
