No reason? He just got his butt handed to him lost the data and had to let the Reapers take Thessia. Good reason for me.

The Reapers would have fcuked Thessia regardless if Shepard had gotten Vendetta, since they would have had to go to the Citadel and move the Crucible. So no, Shepard didn't 'let' the Reapers take Thessia. Shepard was never at Thessia to stop the Reapers from beating up the asari; she was just there to investigate the temple and find what the asari were hording away.

Should it be just another day at the office when an entire race almost goes extinct?

Looking at the thread of worst mission in the series, a lot of people have pointed at the Thessia mission. I can understand Priority Earth, or the geth consensus, but it truly riddles me why would someone point out Thessia as the worst of them all. Wasn't it up to expectations? was it the level design? or the overall story and revelations? I'm not trying to defend it, even though I liked it, I just don't get why so much dislike for it, especially compared to other missions.

I hate that Liara and Javik two powerful biotics pick up the idiot ball and get knocked out by  Samurai JackAss.

Yeah, for you. Last i checked, my Shepard wasn't your Shepard.

If i were to apply your mentality back upon yourself, i'd be asking why you're constantly referring to Shepard as a male.

When it HAS been every day at the office as the Turians, Krogan, Elcor, Hanar and ALL these other races ALSO almost go extinct, yet its only when the Asari predictably go down after abstaining from every attempt to form a united front that it suddenly becomes important.

Yeah, **** off with that ****.

Yeah, the Kai Leng cutscenes are annoying not just because Shepard loses (hell, Shepard loses in a cutscene to Saren on Virmire), they're also really poorly executed. I'm not sure if Bioware simply didn't know how to make them believable, but in all three the squad (and Thane on the Citadel) are made to look like players used to playing on casual suddenly switching to insanity or something.

Am I the only one who loved the mission on Thessia? It left me so depressed afterwards, I didn't want to keep playing. Not because it sucked, but because the sense of anger and helplessness due to failure kind of wanted me to give up. And then... When you talk to Anderson and he tells you to shake it off, I found that pretty epic. It was clear that they were aiming for you to feel down after that mission, and Anderson to cheer you up.

It definitely worked for me. Not to mention it was one of the high points regarding the lore, especially if you brought Javik along, which I did the first time, and I was in awe.

Hate is to strong a word, it is just very very average, a straight line whack a mole. Thessia should have had emotion and intensity, it lacks both. It is short and Kai Leng's involvement, the want to be mutant ninja villain cheapens it. It is a very forgettable mission sadly.

My only problem is that I didn't get to leave Liara on the ship.
Shep is a military leader, and she's not gonna take some emotional trainwreck along and jeopardize the mission.

Shepard should have the opportunity to tell Liara "No, you can't come" for that very reason.  The mission was too important- it was supposed to win the biggest war known to any race.  Her aversion to fighting Banshees (which Thessia should be full of) is another reason to leave her behind.

Of course it doesn't matter since mission fails no matter what, but Shepard doesn't know that.

There's a bunch of ways of going about making an unwinnable boss fight.

Thessia isn't one of them.

Megaman X on the other hand, one of the best.

Same reason I never take Liara to Noveria in ME1.

Not every soldier takes pleasure in killing. Liara never hesitates to shoot on Banshees, she simply doesn't become accustomed to it. And she certainly doesn't jeopardize the mission (it's Liara who manages to save Shepard at he end of the mission.)

Apart from that, every character has his/her "special" missions. Tali must go with you on the Rannoch missions. You must take EDI on Cronos. You have all these loyalty missions in ME2.

You even have Garrus join you on the "Palaven" mission, even though it wasn't Palaven Bioware Posted Image

TBH Thessia had a better turret sub mission than priority earth, that alone gives it a few bonus points.. If you dont stop the Reaper forces then they will breach the Asari commandos barrier field and you loose. The FOB turret mission had no parameters or reason to exist... the Earth mission was even lazier.

The biggest issue I got is how KL could use an gun ship whent he reaeprs were taking them out and keep it safe while waitign and fighting.... and secondly... winning the fight with an after thought was kind of cheap, if would have been more acceptable if it had been a more ingenious setup with bombs attached to the collumns. Then KL would have won because he used his brain and the strategic element of surprise and getting there first. Not because he and his gunship had plot armor.

The ONLY thing I didn't like about it was how the Normandy became "The Real World: Normandy" and everyone having to baby Liara...the damned SHADOWBROKER!
