Why do people hate Priority: Thessia?

Shepard should have the opportunity to tell Liara "No, you can't come" for that very reason. The mission was too important- it was supposed to win the biggest war known to any race. Her aversion to fighting Banshees (which Thessia should be full of) is another reason to leave her behind.
Of course it doesn't matter since mission fails no matter what, but Shepard doesn't know that.
Not every soldier takes pleasure in killing. Liara never hesitates to shoot on Banshees, she simply doesn't become accustomed to it. And she certainly doesn't jeopardize the mission (it's Liara who manages to save Shepard at he end of the mission.)
Apart from that, every character has his/her "special" missions. Tali must go with you on the Rannoch missions. You must take EDI on Cronos. You have all these loyalty missions in ME2.
The mission was still too important, and with Liara's compromised state it's still better to leave her behind (or at least have the option IMO). Shooting Banshees doesn't help her psyche either.
The mission wasn't about Liara- it was about saving the galaxy from extermination.
Edit: And Tali and EDI were important for their missions, and same with the ME2 squad for their loyalty missions. Liara wasn't for the Thessia mission- it was her home, yeah, but this mission wasn't about her.

But it was also her homeworld, which would make her be part of the mission, Thessia should have had side-missions where you can bring anyone you want

It was her homeworld, but this wasn't a sight seeing trip. It was supposed to save the galaxy, so no room for screwing up.

But that's something you don't know. Tevos only tells you that (with any luck) some artifact on Thessia might be useful locating the catalyst. But she doesn't know anything about it, so I think having an archaeologist in the group is not the worst idea.
And Tali isn't important for the Rannoch missions. You can complete the whole arc if she died in ME2. You're right about EDI ofc.

Tali's important if you want to achieve peace between the Quarians and Geth.
And with Shepard going on about how this piece of tech is supposed to win the war, I got the impression that the mission was pretty important. It's not a bad idea to bring an archaeologist, but not critical in a grab and go mission on a planet attacked by Reapers.
Edit: quotation mistake

I agree. Though I think the amount of Prothean intervention with the Asari species was a bit too much.wiggles89 wrote...
I liked it for the most part. The Kai Leng stuff was horrible, but aside from that it had a great atmosphere (it gave me the feeling that I was fighting a losing war), pretty good encounter design, and Javik's contributions were excellent. I didn't like the railroading of Shepard's reaction to the fall of Thessia, but that's not a problem with the mission itself.

Should it be just another day at the office when an entire race almost goes extinct?
When it HAS been every day at the office as the Turians, Krogan, Elcor, Hanar and ALL these other races ALSO almost go extinct, yet its only when the Asari predictably go down after abstaining from every attempt to form a united front that it suddenly becomes important.
Yeah, **** off with that ****.
Thank you Envy.....exactly my thoughts also.

Javik: None

I actually think it makes perfect sense for her to be on the Thessia mission (Prothean expert/Asari homeworld), it's just the post-mission stuff isn't handled well (especially if you didn't bring Javik and she seems to randomly lash out at him).

Mine as well.
My Shep had little sympathy for the Asari at that point. They'd made their bed.
And seriously I LMAO at Joker's joke. If the asari had wasted less time preening and more getting ready for WAR they might've avoided that.

VS is mandatory for Mars, although all they get out of it is a busted head protecting Liara while Shepard and James sit around talking for no apparent reason. But, yeah, Liara does get more missions (nothing too bad, though, in my opinion).
