Yeah let's all listen to General Tarkin here and stop the hate.

That's what I was going for, haha, and it's Grand Moff / Governor Tarkin, btw.

ME3 had fantastic writing. Have you ever thought that maybe it's not bad writing but bad players?

This was a gunship that had Reaper tech supporting perhaps the most dangerous man the galaxy has ever seen. There was no way Shepard was going to win that fight.

. That was the dumbest thing I've seen all day

Wait, you're not being serious BirdsallSa?

I don't particularly like that I am forced to deal with Liara, but the rest of the mission is pure gold.

It was short (no side missions), it's totally linear (I even reloaded a couple times seeing if there was anything I could do to save Talon 5) and the boss fight was simply bad.

This and Kai Leng makes it so cartoonish.  It's also this just back and forth of looking at the artifacts but nothing interesting, other than the things Javik has to say.  If you don't take Javik and Liara, I would think it has to be pretty bad.  Their back and forth dialogue is the only good thing about it.

Thessia was forgettable.  Or at least, it would have been had we not been visited by the plot armor king, Kei Leng....ugh.....

Thessia was so contrived to make the player feel helpless and defeated.  It was overly sappy and desperate, and the plot armor fight with Leng was one of the worst gaming moments in all of ME (after Catalyst kid, of course).  The frustration players felt was not because "We lost!!" but because of the massive lameness of plot armor, one of the worst things anyone can put into a game.  My Infiltrator practically blew off Leng's shields in one hit, then he ran away crying while the gunship saved him (again).  Of course, we have killed gunships with rifles in the past, but apparently this one was magic.

In all fairness, though, every Kei Leng scene was just awful.  When he jumped on the hood of Shep's car, I was wondering why Shep didn't just pull up and pulp the loser on one of the many bridgeways overhead....

ME3...so much bad writing....

I'd be really upset if my sarcasm detector was broken.  OK, I wouldn't be upset at all, I'd be incredulous.  This is currectly my favorite thread on the BSN.

Now you say it... no. Writing of main plot and missions is pathetic. Saying it´s good is like saying Prometheus has a good script the viewers didn´t get.

because the average gamer needs a big YOU WIN screen after every mission

people got mad that they couldn't win a fight that was impossible to win

and then they got mad that a villain didn't play fair

same with Catalyst

these people don't like any villain that's not Lex Luthor

. There are better ways to go about it than a villain who embarrasses Liara with his plot armor.

Exactly. If you guys made any attempt to understand the plot instead of immediately calling out bad writing, you'd actually understand the story.

Thessia was a damn good mission.

Awesome environment and atmosphere.

fun and tough combat

cool plot stuff

and a chat with TIM which is always great

boss fight was meh, but it was still better than Saren

all in all, a fun mission

you'll notice the people who dislike it only dislike it because WAAAH PLOT ARMOUR

in other words they're mad that they lost

in other words they're mad that the game actually had a plot and not a series of SHAPURD IS AWESOME moments

I know, right?

some people still think it's a plothole and/or bad writing that TIM thought he could control the reapers

like

what did you think that whole Sanctuary mission was about

No, the fight sucked because it was poorly designed. You get behind cover and continously shoot the guy while he dances around in one spot like a fairy. Even in my Insanity playthrough i don't think the guy ever made an attempt to even try to kill me or my squadmates. Hell i don't ever recall if he made a single attack against us. He's just a reskinned phantom, and the fight itself was lame.

I don't and I dislike Thessia-Kai Leng ruins it as does the "search" stuff you do in the temple.  Please, they couldn't at least have included other rooms.  Contrast that with the Tuchanka mission where you enter the underground.  That was way more fun and I'm not exactly all warm and fuzzy about the Krogan anymore, after MP.

I mean this is basically what everyone else is saying, only they're being dumb about it.

the bottom line is that people didn't like Leng

to which I say that you're not supposed to like him

he has no redeemable qualities

he's a total dick

I personally feel Thessia was the beginning of the end, not only for the story but because it was yet another part of the game that felt like it was only half developped. Thessia needed more missions, but also, we should have had to visit it prior to it's destruction. I felt absolutely no sympathy for the Asari over their ruined cities, because I never had the chance to appreciate them when they were standing tall.

Just like Earth and the Cerberus HQ, Thessia needed a tune up, and it also needed more missions so it would fit in line with Rannoch and Tuchunka.

Its not that he wins. Its how he wins that people hate.

I like Cerberus taking the VI. Great idea.. Heck, aside from Sanctuary its the only other thing they do that makes any sense. (Can someone explain the Benning "they're killing people, oh they're denying it so we believe them" part?)

The game has a plot, but that didn't need to be even more contrived and confusing.

It´s the game that didn´t play fair. Rules suddenly changed for that fight. I have no problem when a villain doesn´t play fair, I do the same whenever possible after all.

I love Thessia. The final scene where Shepard just stands there looking all sad as a single gunship manages to out-maneuver and then outrun the galaxy's fastest and most advanced frigate whilst the saddest violin music I've ever encountered plays in the background is almost as hilarious as the kid dying at the start.
