What does flemeth really want out of the Grey Warden?

It doesn't seem like she wanted to make Morrigan a more experienced thrall. Wouldn't the demon already know how to use the vessel?

Also she's a demon, why would she need to put a stop to the blight?

Because demons and darkspawn don't mix.

Flemeth doesn't seemed that phased by the darkspawn, mabye they have some sort of mutual agrement to dominate the world.

Flemeth does not seem phased by anything.

Demons can't take over the minds of darkspawn, so them killing everybody else would be a bad thing.

Edit: or at least not effectively.

I'm not quite sure what she is...but I don't think the "story" about her making a pact with a demon for revenge is true. She protects the Grey Wardens, preserves their rites of Conscription treaties, and something just does not ring true (at least to me) about this whole "need a new body" thing...maybe I am wrong, but explore all the conversation options with her the first time you are in the wilds, and again when you go back for her grimoire.

I haven't read anything in either of David's books that explains Flemeth in more detail, although there *is* a short mention of her, perhaps in a later one he'll share :-)

Well, its not like the abominations are buddies with the Darkspawn. If the Blight rages unchecked she'll get caught up in it too and its likely that would put a hamper on whatever Flemeth's plans are.

So it seems like Flemeth is a master strategist. She allied herself to the grey wardens by keeping the treaties and pretends to be an ally when she really is just trying to further her goals without any interference from the blight.

Flemeth is a dragon, not I think a demon. And dragons where gods of old (see codex). So if she is an old god, the darkspawn are a very big threat to her. What do you think of that?

She's a shape shifting apostate. They were also imprisoned underground and also dormant until corrupted/awoken by the darkspawn corruption.

...yes.

Her masterplan of not dying. What a clever plan.

The codex is not 100% correct. They look like dragons, but they are not necessarily that. The archdemon is however a dragon.

Why did she choose to live in Ferelden in the wilds, mabye so she could achieve her master plan that just isn't not dying but becoming powerful and other evil things. Thats why she chose to live where it would not be easy for the Chantry to hunt her down for doing evil things.

She is from Ferelden. Maybe she likes it there.

All the Old Gods were imprisoned underneath the earth by the Maker. That's how they become archdemons, when the darkspawn find them and they become tainted. So, an "old god" is out :-)

She *may* be a dragon...not sure...All we know is that she's older than dirt, and a lot of 'scary' stories/tales were invented so she could live in peace...oh...and she hates Templars, because Morrigan tells you tales of her mother baiting them into the forest then killing them. Sooo...perhaps some sort of powerful mage? ohhhhhhh!!!! I HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! omg, what did I not THINK of this before!!! geeze...

Flemeth...is an elf. One of the elves from when they were immortal, and knew great magic. Somehow, she slipped through the cracks...Yes, morrigan says *she* (herself) can't shapechange to another humanoid form...but I bet Flemeth could...hmm...*runs to the game to check to see if her ears are visible* That would explain a lot...it's crazy enough, that it just MIGHT be true...

I know that prolonged contact with the humans brought mortality to the Arlathans...but what if Flemeth was one that got away? That would explain her isolation, the wild stories made up to keep *humans* away...of course, it would not explain Morrigan, but if she was raised in the same environment as Flemeth, kept isolated, then there is not risk of disease, etc...plus, after all this time, she *may* have found a simple spell of protection to cast...

In David's books, Flemeth saves Loghaine AND Maric - the Dalish ELVES bring them to Flemeth for healing and to get them out of their camp...Flemeth speaks to Maric alone, and gives him a prophecy - interesting thing she says about Loghaine is that he will betray Maric three times, and each time is worse than the prior...and we all know that prophecy came true - she also prophesied another Blight, but not in his lifetime. Yes...the more I think about it...the more I believe that Flemeth is Arlathan....

Morrigan and Flemeth were a rather odd couple. I've stated in several post how I think that the ritual that Morrigan performs at the end of the game is the same that Flemeth performed to become stronger and live longer. The darkspawn supposedly sprang up in the middle of the wilds. However, if you ask if you are safe from the darkspawn, Morrigan replies, yes, for now. Mother has a way of shielding them. Also, when Allister tells you that you can detect darkspawn because of the taint Morrigan says that Mother devised something that would allow you by. I think by capturing the Grimoirs, Morrigan is allowed to learn of her mothers secrets and she begins her quest to become powerful like Flemeth. Flemeth has characteristics of a witch that has binded with a old god or demon child like Morrigan and as a desire demon of sorts too. Morrigan said that shapeshifters couldn't take other human forms. Although, if you ask her if Flemeth is who she says she is, Morrigan goes on to say that she couldn't imaging Flemeth with a child. "Perhaps she made herself appear more desireable" Desire demons make themselves more desirable to their victims. These to characters have provided far more questions than answers for me. I'm just gonna assume that Morrigan is going to bind with the demon child and become powerful until the answer comes out. Hopefully it will. Morrigan also disaproves of you if you kill the desire demon Kitty that wants to possess a little girl in Honnleath. That's pretty bad.

Why does Morrigan even feel obliged to save the Grey Wardens life?
Is Morrigan going to continue Flemmeths Tradion or something?

Well perhaps like Rhinna suggested Flemmeth is an immortal elf and the binding of the arch demons soul to the childs could create an immortal.  The ritual being an idea of flemmeths

-A demon would have *no* reason to protect grey wardens, even a desire demon...

-Flemeth went out of her way to protect the Grey Wardens

-Flemeth can foresee the future - a demon cannot. They can only delve into your mind, and give you what you desire - or your worst nightmare.

-Flemeth saved Maric and Loghaine, because she knew what was going to happen. only a very powerful, old magic (of Elvhanen) could do this.

-I'm not sure that Flemeth herself has told Morrigan who she truly is. Morrigan sidesteps the question if you ask her "Who is Flemeth, really?"

-I think Morrigan has her own agenda. Perhaps that is why Flemeth sent her away.

maybe morrigan had discovered a few of flemeths secrets and rituals and she has altered them and shaped them to fit her own needs

Why not?

Edit: And not wanting the host to die would be a valid reason.

Hmm, Flemeth actually could be old god (or atleast posses soul of one). Old Gods were imprisoned underneath, but what is told (by Morrigan) is that first spirits helped Flemeth to revenge his husbands death and only after it Demon possessed Flemeth. Now what if that "demon" actually is "soul" of one of the old gods? Morrigans (and I believe Flemeth aswell) mission to get "god child" would make actually sense then.
