Devouring Spirit Not Working?

In virtually my first attempt to use Devour Spirit on Ujuk Hilltop Tribe chief it seems
almost impossible to "time" the feat in the midst of battle, no matter how many times I have
tried.  I have used the feat with virtually no health bar, partial health bar(very low) etc. etc. and have
used the feat repeatedly to have on my action bar to alleviate the perfect timing issue, to no avail.

If I choose to fight this chief virtually alone which I have done several times the party still seems to
intervene etc. and the timing of the feat and stealing Ujuk's life essence does not seem to happen.

Any tricks on this since it seems to involve multiple battles in each case and killing the spirit object at
precisely the right time "Near Death" seems to go down in certain instances but its supposed to kill
any Near Death "instantly"????

I assume you mean 'Devour Soul' rather than 'Devour Spirit'. Only the former will work on living creatures.

If you want to collect essences by using spirit-eating abilities on 'near death' targets, you'll have to turn the party AI off and micro-manage your party. It becomes even harder to time things with the 'Spirit Gorge' feat, where you have to systematically reduce every member of a group to 'near death', then gather them together.

The first time through MotB I made the mistake of enchanting a sword with the vorpal ability. It's hard to collect spirit essences if you keep instantly killing targets.

Ah Dann so after I speak with chief and he gives me that new ability I will use that so the Devour Spirit only works on spirits(thought Chief was spirit)

WHile I have you, a new issue is that now there are all sorts of zones in YELLOW all over my map with many different notations like "module entry area", "speak with XYZ" blah blah how do I remove these "TRIGGERS" which is I believe what they are called?

You turned on DebugMode via the console, which makes the triggers show up. Turn off DebugMode.
