Does this mean no damage taken from spells, spell effects such as crushing prison, paralyze or curse of mortality don't affect you, or all of the above?  Could you run straight into an inferno with this and not be affected at all?

I think the cap for spell resistance is 95%, so you'll never be really immune.

I know that SR will allow you to completely ignore single target spells like hexes, crushing prison and so. But since I have yet to try a character with REALLY high SR, I'm not sure about area spells. I#ll check with Alistair on my current walkthrough, but it'll take some time until I have the money to buy spellward and the knight commmander's armor.

With 100% all you will see is RESISTED pop up over your character's head. But it seems that party spells still effect you (I have the PC version).

There are some creature abilities that are like spells but are not spells that can still hurt you and grease fire, which is not directly a spell.

Faffnr's reply is what I experienced on my tank. Only friendly spells affect you, and only "good" spells at that. Friendly fireballs don't hurt you, while friendly heals still heal you.

You'll pretty much just resist everything. When I fought Gaxxkang (see signature) I don't think I got hit by a single spell.

I don't understand these claims, a 100% spell resistance does not give Alistair immunity from spells I cast. Admittedly, I only have access to Death Cloud but I have seen enemies resist Death Cloud so it's not like it can't be resisted.

EDIT: Ok, I tested with Morrigan, and Alistair NEVER resisted in any of the spells she cast
