I just had a game with a friend in platinum and one of our allies had human male with acolyte.

At first I was like "we're doomed" but when in-game I realised not only this guy knows how to play singularity, but acolyte provides an amazing power against platinum enemies.

Pros of chargeless acolyte:

-Does not need to break cover
-Can instantly fire without the 1 second window which leaves him exposed to enemy fire

Pros of charging acolyte

-Can be used for run attacks
-Probably can be glitched with flamer and what not

If I missed some pros of either weapon ,please feel free to correct me.

Edit: I'm probably going to try more heavy adepts with acolyte now that it's been buffed to my standards, though I wouldn't mind some insight on how to use charing acolyte properly.

It's getting changed back to charge.

Too bad.

If it stayed uncharged, it would get hit with the nerfbat of doom, heavily.

Better it be charge-up.

Charging isn't meant to be an advantage.

I prefer it charged. It's more challenging to use. And funner.

And there are no annoying awkward reloads and weapon switches.

Yeah, I kinda like it when it's chargeable.

No.

BSN, for the last time, the charge stays.

I loved the chargeless acolyte with the one second minimum refire time. It's not a huge dealbreaker for me as I'm able to use both forms of the weapon, however I certainly did get much more enjoyment out of the chargeless version.

Charged Acolyte has a potentially higher RoF and more dps than - at least compared to the nerfed version - the chargeless Acolyte.

The removal of the charge mechanic in a previous balance change trivialised the weapon and everyone and their mother used it.

So no.

I hope it stays chargeless as well.

Doesn't anyone else find it odd/silly that a gun for casters requires charging and thus time out of cover (something most casters are bad at).

The charge gives it somewhat of a challenge to use. I haven't seen a single acolyte in pugs since the change. So I think it should be charged so not everyone and their mother can make the game EZ mode.

Charge is better.

Havent used it this afternoon, but if I recall from the last time it was chargeless, the low rate of fire caused this unnatural delay in reloading and swapping weapons.

I agree, bring back the charge.

The charge is better, get over it.

Plus you saw what happened when it was chargeless. EVERYONE used it, and bioware nerfed it. Fagnan said that the first nerf wasn't going to be enough. The acolyte would eventually become the next Krysae.

Yes lets all be elitist pricks who want to make the good weapons so annoying to use that most people won't bother, that's the solution to everything!

Also, its MORE powerful as a charge up, thus even more of easy-mode. Assuming one is willing to put of with the annoyance of running around with the extra button held down. (Now that's what I call fun!)

I really wish these threads would stop. Keep the charge, keep the acolyte safe from nerfs. Simple as that.

Sadly the "caster" pistol is predetermined by Bioware to be caster unfriendly apparently.  The charge is great for vangods but sucks for squishy casters.  Oh well, the game is all about run and gun and guns and grenades now and I don't see that changing.  Switching back to weekend challenge mode for ME3 and moving on to other games for main play.  It is sad though that space magic in the Mass Effect series is very subordinate to shooty classes and tech classes. :crying:

It really doesn't suck on squishy caster classes.

In that case some other guns need nerfing. Start with the claymore and harrier.

You don't get it, the weapon is more effective with the charge feature, you can run with it ready, it doesn't break the cloak, more powerful (BioWare would nerf its punch to balance the easier handling), the reload time is annoying.

Yes, it's not so noob friendly, but make a small effort, if you get used to it you will understand why is better this way
