Removing the charge-up from the Acolyte is equal to the following:

- removing the Javelin shot delay
- removing the PPR overcharge mechanic
- making the Scorpion rounds explode immediately in every case.

All of these changes would make using the weapons easier. But it's the learning curve that makes some things in this game fun.

I guess some folks shiver at the "learning" part, but that's their problem, not mine.

In all fairness, there is nothing to 'learn' per se other than strategy. I personally like the gun, but cant stand charge up mechanics. I can tell you I don't suck with it, unlike the Javelin in which I do, I just don't like charging period. It hurts my hands trying to run, find cover and keeping the gun charged. For those that can do it though, hey more power to them. I don't think the charge up should be totally removed though so 100% of the player base could use it in ez mode. Even chargless I don't use it. But as peeps like to point out, and wrongly so but maybe in this case its true, that I play a moral game so I rarely used it in either form.

The problem I see is that if it would stay chargeless, BioWare would nerf it.

Hehe. Yeah that goes without saying. Too much data on BW's radar.

A FIM-92 Stinger takes lesser time to lock and fire on a  target than the acolyte charge up .

I like to this in terms of if this were actually a gun that, you know, future people would make. Does it make sense that they'd make it so you have to hold the trigger to charge it? or that it would charge automatically? Hell, nerf it for all i care, everyone and their mother overuses it anyway. *ducks*

The charge up mechanic is easy, not to mention that nothing stops you from running around with a shot ready. If you do this it fires even faster since you can do it while running. Stop pretending the charge is a balancing feature. The charge acolyte is more OP while being less fun.

This. It doens't really take much to get used to the charge up version of the gun. Once you become comfortable using it you have taken an already OP gun and then giving it a RoF and damage buff.

Personally, I find the charged acolyte more fun. The charge mechanic makes it more interesting and gives variety to weapons which I find really adds to the game. This is just my opinion though and it's obvious that lots of people (including those who are comfortable using the charge up acolyte) have more fun without it being charged... but just because lots of people enjoy the gun doesn't mean it should be nerfed.

Either way, it is my favourite gun and I will use it if it the charge up mechanic stays or goes.

Why is no one arguing the most reasonable argument?

Give the acolyte both, just like the graal, gps, arc pistol, etc. Everybody wins.

Come on, guys it's not that bad. I didn't like when it went back to charged and now I've long since gotten used to it. In fact, when I tried to played with the charged one, I was like a toddler trying to do math - I had no idea what to do with myself. Just play with it, you'll get used to it. Yes, I admit, it sucks that you can't safely fire from cover, but it's pretty easy to adapt. Just keep it charged at all times.

And what in the world would make you think playing with and adept + acolyte would not work?

I don't really like the charge up dynamic for that gun. If they want to delay the fire rate reduce it's clip to one shot then reload or have a cool down after firing a shot.

Eh, it's fine either way. Just takes a different play style.

If the Acolyte must be a charge weapon, then is there anyway to make its ready-to-fire signal more noticeable? I end up charging for too long...
